I haven't heard a word of Custom Robo and Ray would be a really cool character, I'm starting to get worried.
Then again, we hadn't heard anything of Pikmin untill Olimar was shown.

Not anything yet but i like his chances. Custom robo is popular enough (ecspecialy in japan) for Ray 01 to be a PC

actually quite a few do.  He was mentioned in a lot of speculations, but with the Custom Robo games we've had in the US I just don't think he gets the press many other characters get.  The ones we have are supposed to not be so good...

I think the GameCube one is really fun.

I agree there is a chance.  Plus the robot representation in Smash is non-existant, so they will most definitely change things up a bit.

Ray 01 would be a cool character because each of his special attacks could be another one of his robo pieces. The only question is, which pieces would they be?

Wario for President! But no Bowser Jr. or Ridley for Brawl!:( Oh well, there's always the next game, I guess.

Maybe his smash attacks could switch different parts around, but his standard attacks would be more powerful to make up for it?

Not quite sure how Custom Robo works, as I'm not from Japan. Tongue

Then it will be a bit harder to explain...

Okay here we go:
Custom robo's were originally meant as weapons but eventually became toys that kids fight with.
The toy robos are just as strong as a weapon robo but have a security lock that only makes them available to fight inside portable arenas called Holoseums.

The robots are built up with 5 parts:
Body: The chest, arms and head.
Legs: Legs and feet.
Gun: Right hand weapon, usually a gun but can be other stuff like drills.
Bomb: Left hand weapon, usually a cannon that fires bombs.
Pod: Jet-pack-like thing that fires small bombs or mines.
