has anyone compared the original and edited versions of the video ? i'm curious to know how you all were able to confirm the authenticity of the two of them .

the original one could be still found in youtube. for the edited one, it's found on the japanese wii website. The link fo the first is in cheesyrice's thread. The second could be found on the discussion page of wikipedia on the Super Smash Bros. series. The authenticity is real. I checked it, double checked it and triple checked it. The source is really nintendo and it is authentic.

The video came from Nintendo's own website:  Wii.com.  This leak is from Nintendo itself.  It has been confirmed by several sources.

Including Wikipedia. The security of confirming characters in wikipedia is tight. The policing there is harsh. But yeah, after much consideration, they did confirm it. They site their source as joystiq, which sites their source as youtube which sites their source as wii.com.jp. Even on that website, there is a glitch that will allow you to see what they covered up. Read about it in the Wikipedia discussions.
