I hope this theory hasn't been proposed but here's my theory of the playable characters of Smash. This could be obtained with the new information given in Brawl that some stickers can only imbibe it's powers to certain PCs. The first pic that we obtained is one from DOJO itself. It shows that the cellphone could only imbibe its powers to three characters: Kirby, Meta Knight and King Dedede. All of which are from the same world, World 4 or the Kirby series. All right so here's the picture as evidence:

And then, we get the major spoiler that this also confirms the playability of Ness, Jigglypuff and Lucario. Now, the pictures found in that original video is original game footage. None of it is edited because if it was, we wouldn't have seen the three. But looking how character-specific power-ups go, they can only go to PCs of the same world. You will find Lucario and Jigglypuff with Pikachu and Pokémon Trainer and Ness with Lucas. Here's the video link (4:20 confirms them):

http://youtube.com/watch?v=pfb2l-iYlRo

And again, I'm using photoshop to clearly show you the evidence of their existence. I know the past thread uses the emphasized ones but I took it upon myself to use the same technique as above.

My pictures aren't as clear due to the fact I got this from youtube and these ones were from the Japanese Wii website so I'll put the ones on the other thread as well.

Now when you chose the cellphone, a Kirby series sticker, Kirby series characters got it. When you chose the Groudon sticker, a pokémon sticker, Pokémon series characters got it. When you chose the Lucas sticker, a Mother series sticker, Mother series characters got it. And when you chose the Sonic sticker, only Sonic got it.

Now what are it's implications?

1. Stickers are SERIES-specific
  > They go for the series that the special stickers come from. A Lucas sticker can be used to power-up both Ness and Lucas while a Sonic sticker can only power-up Sonic. This proves that even if the sticker is of a certain PC, the sticker goes to the series.

  a. All the characters shown in the special sticker are all the PCs in Brawl.
     > Now this is somewhat still in the air as we don't know the status of starters and hiddens. But if tradition takes its course, Jigglypuff will be a hidden character. If I'm not mistaken, that would mean all the characters shown in that video has all the PCs unlocked. Therefore, the stickers we saw there are the final characters they can give power-ups to. Thus we have another follow-up corollary.

        i. Sonic is the ONLY character in world 20; Pikachu, Pokémon Trainer, Lucario and Jigglypuff are the ONLY characters in world 8 AND Ness and Lucas are the only characters for world 7.
ii. Claus and Pichu aren't playable characters.
iii. Many fake rosters are now DISPROVED

OK...so maybe there's no bullet 2 and b...bad way of showing things. Anyways, I think you guys get the point. As for Kirby, Meta Knight and King Dedede, well I wouldn't know for sure. This was shown in the DOJO and it could have been edited.

I'm retracting Mewtwo from this theory and putting Pichu. It is now obvious that Pichu will get the cut. But this for me is still a bit of speculation. As for Mewtwo, I forgot that these stickers DO pertain to the PCs of SSE only. We all know Wario and Bowser aren't PCs in the SSE and most likely wouldn't have a sticker. So if Mewtwo were to play a villainous role in SSE then that could still mean Mewtwo's still might be a PC in multiplayer. Also, if it is proven that villainous characters ALSO are PCs in the SSE then Mewtwo goes back up in the non-playable character list. However, if it is proven that Lucario and Jigglypuff aren't starters, this theory is debunked. I'm glad I cleared that.

Well, I sort of agree with you on the whole Playable Character front, but I disagree with you on the whole uses of the stickers. You'd think that would be something big enough for Sakurai to mention in this post. Maybe the little icons simply declare which characters are from that series. I don't know really, and I don't have many ideas, but it just seems like that way to important for Sakurai to not mention.

No the icons declare what characters could use the stickers. It's been clearly stated in the DOJO!! They don't declare the characters from that series but the characters that could use them. Compare the picture up there to the other pictures and you'll notice the difference.

Can it be?
Was the legendary #150 truly defeated by a mere Groudon sticker?
Say it ain't so, Sakurai!

*cathartic sigh*

On the bright side, I didn't actually bet on Mewtwo. I had a hunch this would happen.
My next hunch? There won't be a grand total of 50 PCs after unlocking every single character (not counting ZSS and Sheik).

This time, the 4th generation trumps the 1st.

I'd just like to point out that this is JUST a theory. Take it with a grain of salt. In the event that Lucario and Jigglypuff are actually starter characters, which is unlikely but possible, this theory is disproved right away. Of course, online leaks would disprove this as well if more pokémon characters come out. Let me emphasize...it's a theory.

I like the theory dcmjlive but i think there is just a sprinkle of oversight on it. Like you had stated initially we don't know the status on hidden/unlockable fighters and who actually is on the starting roster.

The theory i have on this is that it seems like it would be strange to look at one sticker and have it, potentially, spoil a massive surprise because you saw all the characters it can be used for. Which leads me to believe that the sticker will highlight the characters that are already available and not ones that are still hidden. Now this isn't to say Lucario and Ness aren't hidden because i still think they are which in turn leads me to believe that the sticker part in the video was deliberate on Nintendos part. It just doesn't seem practical that Nintendo would put out a major video like that and not of gone through and edited all the frames to mak sure things they didn't want in there wouldn't be there.

Is it possible someone messed up and had them in there? Sure, but i think there might have been a little more intent than others may of thought.

Cool Dj that's a nice theory one that makes since as well.
And to all the mewtwo fans i want to say tough luck because lucario seems to have taken his place.
I mean Lucario's a fighting type pokemon which can give him quick and fast melee attacks and he can use moves like aura sphere which works similiar to shadow ball.
So once again tough luck to the mewtwo fans  Cry

Dude, I joined this forum to just comment on this theory... your on to something... but we will find out very soon when the japenese version comes out. But I hardly believe they would cut mewtwo out, theres no reason to, many people loved to play as him and it would only be out of the dev teams laziness not to put him in. Nintendo is a company that do their best to make money, by adding in all the characters people like, they would be doing just that. (sorry Nintendo fans who think they're in it for the fans) Anyway, good eyes bro, we will see very soon. Wink

this photo comes from nintendo right? then this doesnt mean that lucario and jigglypuff are starter characters cuz nintendos copy of this game would have every character and not just the starters

guys, remember that this was a slip-up on nintendo's part. When they realized what they've done, they erased all the info from the stickers. A bit too late actually. And yeah, this is from Nintendo and could mean a lot of things. I'm just proposing this theory because it seems to act that way. darkpower, welcome to smashpower!
