E3 is happening right now, in front of us, and we are awaiting to see if the rumors of the console-exclusive SSB4 is really true. If so, then let's ready ourselves. IGN is the first site most of us went to in order to promote Smashpower, and it will be our job again to get people's asses into our once-lush forum community. Will some of those guys remember us? Will they even be there still? Questions like these are yet to be answered, but regardless, the most important thing is bringing this site back to life with speculations, updates, rumors, and more.

If Nintendo doesn't announce anything SSB4-related, then there is always a next time, but to all Nintendo fans out there, here's to hoping.

I don't even need to know what is going to be in the new Smash Bros.
The fact that it's even happening is just AWESOME!  And on the WiiU AND 3DS!

I can see Smash Power becoming MUCH more lively in the future. ^U^

Guys, as much as it pains me to say this, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Kotaku just revealed that SSB4 is just an idea and development for the game hasn't begun yet. They haven't even gotten the staff for this game. It can be read here: http://kotaku.com/5809850/cold-water-thrown-on-smash-bros-for-wii-u-and-3ds

So yeah, let's not keep our hopes up. Let's wait for a definite.

Nintendo would lose a massive amount of fan support if they pulled a publicity stunt like this for the WiiU. To save their own skin I think it's a safe bet they'll still go through with it. Plus, Brawl nearly single-handedly launched the Wii back in 2006 when it was in production - I know that in my case it was by far the biggest factor in me purchasing the Wii. It would only make sense they'd keep SSB4 for precisely the same reason. In the world of business, money rules.

My purpose for buying the Wii...Twilight Princess. I wanted to play it earlier than the Gamecube release. I don't agree Brawl was the reason why the Wii launched. People still bought the Wii more because of the casual reasons. A big chunk of Wii users are still the casual players. And more titles can be attributed to launching the Wii such as SMG, Mario Kart Wii, Twilight Princess, Metroid Trilogy, RE4. Not necessarily Brawl.

You're right however in saying that not releasing SSB4 may dampen sales. It's bad promotion. But still, it isn't healthy to pine for it this early because of the fact that many titles are cut even before production starts because of lack of staff. It happens all the time, even in the world of Hollywood. It's a big mistake though to let this pass.

I got Wii for Twilight Princess.  I was super hyped when I saw the 06 trailer during E3, but it wasn't the reason I bought the Wii.  I already had it.

Anyway, at he E3 Iwata said, "Since his team is still involved in the final work for Kid Icarus maybe I shouldn't go into any detail today, but I think I have just promised you that Smash Bros. will be developed for Nintendo 3DS and for Wi U, and that the software will work together in some fashion."

Iwata "just promised" us a new Smash Bros.  After saying that, they can't really go back on their word now.  And yes, there isn't a team formed quite yet, but once Kid Icarus: Uprising is done production will probably start soon after.  Sakurai is certainly planning on making this game happen.

Here's some interesting info: http://ds.ign.com/articles/117/1174428p1.html

I'm curious about what the functionality between the two systems will be.

The plan is to customize the characters some way in 3DS then you can export them to your WiiU and use them.

A short guess, but you can also probably use your 3DS as an extra controller.

But really, I have a feeling that the production staff for Kid Icarus would directly be used for Smash.
