New Character through Wi-Fi

It'd be awesome for those who chose to keep their Wi-Fi connected so when Nintendo releases new custom made stages to everybody everyday...

BUT!

Nintendo could surprisingly release a new character occassionally to be uploaded on your Wii and Smash Bros Disc and for you fanboys to use! That would be huge.
I doubt that would happen, but it'd be a dream coming true.

It's unlikely but not impossible.  There would probably be some sort of fee (either a subscription or a purchase) because characters are way too much work to be given out for free.

absolutely, but it is another smart way for nintendo to make money.

I mean, look at it this way, if some fans are disappointed that Knuckles, or Waluigi or uh, Skull Kid, any characters that the fans have been hoping to see in Brawl and didn't make it. Nintendo could change their frowns upside down with surprises like that.

Virtual Consoles does have a few surprises of it's own and with a cost.

Could almost be like Madden, really. Updating the football roster to the most recent roster.

true, and the peck and chose nature would let people avoid or even "boycott" characters they don't want.

That being said any kind of social interraction via the game will pressure most people to buy characters even if they don't play them incase their friends do.

The only problem I see with this is that it would probably force online players to download locked copies of the characters (i.e. free, but you can't play as them, it's only so your system knows how to handle other people playing as them) in order to play online, which some people may be averse to doing.  Of course, that in turn could be solved by filters or a "no new character" zone of the online service.  I'd have to see exactly how it works before I could give any logistical details.

If Nintendo were to pull that off.. I'd trust Nintendo will know what they are going to do. They could be smart with stuffs like that.

Like the time I couldn't Copy my F-Zero GX block to another memory card, only Move.

That would be SWEET!!!!! It would be even cooler if you could create your own characters and send them to people over Wi-Fi.

That would be cool.  But of course it would need a character creation system.  And in order for it to work online, it would probably need some form of checks and balances to make sure no character could be too over powered (probably a point buy system)

Otherwise, the online community would be quickly ruined by Goku's (characters who are infinitely better than everybody else)

That would be great to create characters..... But, you know how some people can be. Some of them would make Master Chief, Sly Cooper, Ratchet, Jak, or whatever... Things could get out of hands.

I believe that Nintendo wants their characters to be shown the way Nintendo wants it to be shown. Their own design, their own movesets, everything handled professionally by Nintendo.

Well, Create-Your-Character could be helpful to Nintendo. I mean, if they are too lazy to make somebody or have no idea who to make. Then one day, a fan send their Created Character of someone no one would expect like Cranky Kong. That could wake Nintendo up and then Nintendo could pull their sleeves up and use the created design to adjust and create movesets professionally. Then release their final design to people thanks to the original creator.

It'd be fun for Nintendo, methinks.

I agree with eviboy about created characters being contrary to Nintendo's MO.

Downloadable characters: Unlikely but Possible but they would be few and far between and probably cost a decent amount of dinero (and those coins won't work )

Create-Your-Character: Very unlikely but still possible.  Probably using Mii's but a mix and match customizable system would be cooler.

Create-Your-Character and share - If CyC exists you'll be able to share them.

Create-Your-Character online mode - Probably not.  It's too dangerous to the balance of the game.

i dont think that we will be able to download any characters by the means of wi-fi with out giving up some serious wii points .

I'd probably say $5 or $10 bucks a piece.

i would say about that amonunt to but some character will be better than others so obvisouly have a higher cost.i would say ranging from $5-$20.
