Clone Controversy

Now I've been told that Sakurai and co have confirmed there will be no clones in the next game, but I have not seen any interviews or articles confirming that.

So the question is, will there be clones.

I personally hope so.  I feel that the clones did not detract from the game, but added to it.  I doubt that we lost even one "original" character from the clones.  Simply put, creating and balancing a clone is (as far as I can tell) a lost simpler than making a new character, especially since they only need a couple new animations (taunts and victory poses)

I've been told (but again can find no actual evidence, so take with a pinch of salt) that the clones were literally added last minute, with the deadline looming over them simply because "25 looks better than 19."  If this is true, then we'll hopefully see a lot more clones.

Another question is would they have unique smash moves.  I think yes.

So, post your opinion on clones here, and also what clones you would like to see.

I ahve two so far.
1) Captain N (if he's not a full character) as a clone of Fox (highly unlikely I know)  The blaster, rocket pack and dash move are all reminicent of Kevin's powers in the game, and while he couldn't reflect, it's not that far off.
2) Phoenix Wright as a clone of Falcon.  Phoenix was demanded by IGN's readers, but I don't think there's enough to build on with him to make a unique character.  Rather than submit him to a one shot AT, he'd make a great Falcon clone, with his powerful "Objection!" replacing the Falcon Punch.

I'd like to see Lolo and Lala as Ice Climber Clones.  They're HAL characters, and have shown up in most of the Kirby games as Lololo and Lalala so I don't see any reason why they couldn't be added.

Arguably they are technically not Nintendo characters, but if people want to get nitpicky, we can call them Lololo and Lalala and have them be villains ^_^

I'd go with your idea about Captain N.

I'd like to see some more 4 legged characters to be a clone of Ivysaur like Eevee's evolutions or Duck Hunt Dog

Wolf O'Donnell and Falco as a clone of Fox.

Skull Kid as a clone of Pit.

Liquid Snake as a clone of Solid Snake.

Personally i didn't care much for the clones. True they were a little tweaked from the "original" model type but i felt like it was just a boring moded version. With Ganon i felt like a stronger but slower falcon, hell even thier running was similar. Why take up space with a present with different wrapping but the same end result of a gift?

i didnt mind that there was clones either, exept for pichu and ganondorf. Why did ganondorf have the same moves as c.falcon? they are from 2 completly different games!

 why waste time making a character with same moves when you could had made one with thier own moves.it just seems that they didant even try and wanted to be done with it and started cloning to get done faster.

well i think they did rush melee so i guess they didnt have time to create new moves for the other characters

Yea i'll agree that melee did feel like it was a tad rushed, all the more reason i'm so friggin hyped for Brawl becasue they sure are taking thier damn sweet time getting it done lol.

i am mad they pushed the game back but i also understand why so do what you got to do to make the game great but change that date again and no telling what i may do .
