In a new statement of Sakurai in IGN: http://wii.ign.com/articles/113/1139263p1.html

Quote from: Sakurai
Melee is the sharpest game in the series... it just felt really good to play.

He pointed out that Melee really was the game geared towards the hardcore gamers more than the casual. And I think we could all agree upon that given how characters became so floaty in Brawl. But what do you prefer more:

Melee's gameplay

or

Brawl's characters, wi-fi and accessibility?

Honestly, it does make me wish they mashed the two up.

Quite the interesting statement coming from him. And I certainly do agree with him.

Between the two options there...that's a toughie. As to gameplay and overall experience, I'd have to choose Melee. It's precise, it's fast, it's smooth, it's solid, and it just feels right. But...as to the games themselves as a whole, I'd have to choose Brawl. The character selection is great and the WiFi takes it to a whole new level. And since most of my multiplayer video gaming has been a thing spanning the continents from the comfort of my home, WiFi gives Brawl that extra edge on its competition.

If Melee had WiFi I'd build an alter to it.

Because bandannas and shades are cool.

Wow, that's interesting!
Although, I have to say that I enjoy Brawl more.
Maybe it's the fact that it feels less hardcore.  I never really noticed, though.

But I have heard of a way to make Brawl more like Melee.  It's something called Brawl+.
I've only seen a wiki article and, honestly, I'm not interested.  I like Brawl how it is.

But I'll provide the link to anyone who's interested in Melee-a-tizing Brawl.

Brawl+ isn't really like Melee...it's more like a very broken brawl wherein everyone is overpowered. It does have Melee speed though. I hope someone creates a Melee Brawl where all the old characters get back their old stats.

Ah, I see.
I was basing what I said on other people's opinions.  I'd wouldn't download something like that onto my Wii.

Now what you said would be nice, DJ.  I wouldn't mind some characters returning either.  Although that would be hard to pull off in a hack.

Wrong. Brawl- is what you're describing. Brawl+ is like Melee.

That's really interesting that he even mentioned a next possible SSB. Gets rid of the feeling that Brawl was the definite last in the series.

Didn't really notice that. But I always found it plausible though.
