Nintendo could legalize ROMS, except instead of being able to play the whole game, you are allowed a trial-version (from 30 min-2hours) and then if you own the game, you are given a questionaire and have to pust in that # thats own your game cartride.  Ex: (In Pokemon Blue) Who is the main "villan" of this game? A.Sabrina B. Giovanni C. Red D. Mr. Fuji      What is the pokemon on the front cover of this game? A. Poliwhirl   B. Vaporeon   C. Kingler   D. Blastoise
stuff like that

and then you would put your ID # thingy (which would probably be easy for Nintendo to add onto the ROMS)  EX: DMG-APEE-USA

me myself, I would probably play Pokemon Yellow in ROM form, because my Yellow Version freezes somewhere among the title pages!  And also, hacks would still be doable, whether you could do hacks with games you "don't own" I don't know

That was all, I just wanted to say that... ROMS don't have to be illegal, if Nintendo made them trial versions unless you can prove you own a copy of it, that would be fine, because then I would want the game more!

Yeah but then people can just post the ID's and the answers to the questions online so it wouldn't make a difference if they added all that to the roms.

Also it's only illegal if you download a Rom of a game that you had never purchased before.

btw, if the game is merely a hack in which a lot is changed, does ips patching it yourself or not determine the legality if you don't own the original game, and is it illegal to play a ROM hack of a game you don't own?


And yeah, I do see the flaw in that.... it could be a thing where you can only register that code for one IP address!
