Favorites are B/W/G and R/S/E.  R/S/E is probably the worst of all in people's opinions, according to design, the pathetic amount of underused/shit-tier poke'mon (by tourney standards), and just about everything else.  I loved it though, A LOT, and designs do NOT suck (except for some, but EVERY gen has a crap design somewhere).  VERY underrated generation IMHO.

EDIT: In case anyone asks what the big deal is about Gen 3 up in the voting options, it's a reference to fans of Capcom/Type-Moon.  DMC2 and an anime called Shingetsutan Tsukihime, both of which were SO bad, that the fans deemed that neither of those ever happened (and deny those two being canon in their respective companies).  Gen 3 was mostly negative so I guess this can be the Poke'mon-equivalent to those things.

I'll have to go with Black/White/(gray) and gold/silver/crystal. The fact that there was another 150 Pokemon added to the second one made my feel happy, considering the fact that some of them are pretty cool, and the most broken ones come from there. Black/White has been an awesome experience on my DS emulator. I can't wait till I get that candle stick that has a 145 base special attack in its final form, which is just pure beastly. I'm scared that he might turn out to be uber though because of that =/

I have to Go with Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald And Black/white/Gray The RSE There were alot of Pokemon that Caught my Attention that made me think of them being Good Pokemon even though Most of them aren't really used in tournaments but still Pokemons like Gardevoir, absol, milotic really got my attention and i was really stuck on these games for a good while. And Black/white/gray The fact there is a New Bunch of pokemon and its a reboot game its so awesome. the graphics and the sprites for the game over all are amazing. Even though there is going to be a Bunch of Uber pokemon but probably not since some of them Like how Pablo stated out the Candle it may have 145 Special attack but that maybe the only good thing its at and its speed as well. but sometimes its other stats may not as great as it may show. but to me Both of these Series of the games were the greatest.

Well Black/White haven't been released in America, so I won't vote for it yet. I can't really decide my favorites though. Gen 1 was awesome for nostalgia reasons, Gen 2 brought Totodile, 16 gyms in 1 game, and day/night, Gen 3 was a complete overhaul in the game's mechanics by bring Natures, Abilities, and a new EV/IV system, and Gen 4 brought Wi-Fi battling and physical/special split. They all added awesome things to the world of Pogeymanz IMO

I doubt it'll be Uber, there's a lot of insanely strong Pokemon this gen. *cough* Hihidaruma *cough*

Well put.

When it comes down to it, I'll always love Red and Blue. That won't change.

I have to go with Gold and Silver. There really is something about beating 16 gym leaders than your normal 8. And plus, I really love all the starters of this gen the best. That's why before HG/SS, I was sort of happy to have Meganium, Typhlosion, Feraligatr and Ampharos (4 of my old G/S team) back in action in Colloseum

They were plain-looking to be honest (the second-gen starters), although in a good kinda way.  I liked Typlosion a lot.  As for Chikorita and its evos... ughh, lame...

But that I do agree with you.  Gameplay-wise, 16 gym leaders was awesome.  If Nintendo wants to end the Poke'mon series with a bang, a Poke'mon Rainbow with all regions, all gym leaders, and all poke'mon would be nice.  Like Red is the main character again, but this time, you re-experience his journey, battling through countless trainers and leaders and becoming what is known as the legendary trainer of Poke'mon.  Heck, even after the G/S arc when he becomes an optional boss, maybe he (you) decides to challenge other regions such as Hoenn (lvl 70 poke'mon), Sinnoh (lvl 80 poke'mon), and Isshu (lvl 90 poke'mon) in order to become the TRUE best and max out his (your) poke'mon.  Also, introducing all of the big bad groups would be interesting.  I can see a compelling plot behind this, but maybe certain characters will be entirely left out.  Either way, it's a nice prospect.

I'd have to vote for R/S/E (the "wait, what are you talking about?" series) and Black and White

R/S/E .... This game is high on my list, these games were AMAZING!!  I remember, I was at the store, I begged my mom to buy it for me... but I wasn't allowed to play it for a week (or something like that)  I would sneak off with it, play with it.... and then I got caught!  Even then, I found it, and played it more and more, making sure to put it back so they wouldn't expect that I played it! Cheesy  The pokemon were new and fresh, there were no repeats (as far as I knew, heck, I thought Skarmory was a generation 3 Pokemon Tongue) the gameplay was ALOT better than the originals on the gameboy, there was lots of color... It was one of the last games (I think Diamond was m official last, might have not done it on it) that I only used the starter!

And then there's Black and White... brand new region, Pokedex ONLY with new pokemon, no new babylutions, no add-on evolutions (points all of his fingers at 4th gen), Pokemon that look amazing, 3D.. I mean it hasn't come out yet, but I already know it's good... I hate that once again (somewhat on D/P I did this) I have spoiled all the new pokemon and evolutions!  that's all!  I like that it's not going by the "regular gym order"  it's kind of being like 2nd gen!

If you were to say I couldn't chose B/W, then G/S/C all the way!  I liked D/P/Pt in upgrading all the game mechanics and everything... but that was all it really had to offer, I liked some of the pokemon, and the story was okay... but... it wasn't the greatest!  I liked that they didn't try to go back to Team Rocket (shocker, ain't it!)  And I really liked HG/SS, but technically that's not 4th gen..
Okay, so G/S/C were amazing, new starters... simplistic , yet unique and beautiful!  The game was alot easier to figure out then Pokemon Blue (which I never could beat, getting stuck after Erika, I guess not going to the Team Rocket base in the Game Corner) the new pokemon were awesome (100+, woot!) ... and going through the game after not playing it in a long time... I had never even tried to get Ho-Oh... I didn't know you could go to Kanto... but I did have an overleveled Typlosion (again, woot!) soo... yeah!

And yeah, btw, for anyone who cares, I have a new YouTube account called Typlogo, I may or may not try to start LPing soon... so.... fun fun! Cheesy

That's why I liked GSC the best. It had the feeling of a true journey. You were not limited to your region, you could explore. One downside of the HGSS remake is that it failed to include the Sevii Islands. But at least HGSS opened Cerulean Cave. Cheesy

It would be nice not only to battle 16 gym leaders but 3 even 4 elite fours. Cheesy

Gold/silver/crystal and Ruby/sapphire/emerald. The first for obvious reasons that people have already stated plus they added 2 new types and the second mostly because they added double battles, but also because they added a lot of new AND cool pokemon. Ruby/sapphire/emerald have the coolest legendaries of all the pokemon games too not just Kyogre, Rayquaza and Groundon either, I mean ALL the legendaries including the Regies and latios/latias.

It seems interesting that Black and White carry 2nd place together with R/S/E. I wonder how anyone can call it a favorite even without playing it.

There is an obvious trend though that GSC really is the best generation. I wonder if it really is because most of us grew up in that generation of pokémon. Of course RBGY came first but pokémon really improved with GS. I even remember that out of sheer excitement, I bought the Japanese version of silver and finished the game. For a short period of time, I learned how to read Japanese. It was also an issue for me to get a new move. One of the things I did was to save before I felt a pokémon was about to level up because it might learn a move that's good or sucky. If it's a move I don't like, I turn off the game and restart. Imagine how hard the team rocket puzzles were in Japanese :-P. After sometime, I resorted to looking at Serebii (when it was still really new) to find out what move I was using, until I bought the English version. :-P
