Hey guys, I'm here to inform you all about Brawl Minus Tongue

What is Brawl Minus, you ask? Well take a look at this quote from the official site!

Quote
Brawl-: What is it?

Crazy.
Brawl- crosses boundaries with PSA that the other main hack projects would reject in horror. Several characters will have totally different playstyles, and some will be so changed that they are hard to recognize.

Fast.
Brawl- incorporates very, very fast gameplay (many attacks and characters have been sped up considerably) with a copolous amount of hitstun for a very fast gameplay style.

Fair.
Brawl- has as one of the first and foremost goals, "fairness". That is, no character should be overpowered, and no character should be underpowered. We don't want another Street Fighter 2 where there is one character who kicks the crap out of everyone else.

Broken as hell.
Remember when we said crazy? Brawl- is also known as "Broken Brawl", "Stupid Brawl", and several other less tasteful names. The basic concept of Brawl- is "if it ain't broken, break it until it gets better. If it is broken, act like it isn't and break it until it gets better." Does this mean we will put balance last? Hell no, we put fair ahead of Broken. But it does mean that you can expect it to be pretty nuts. Balanced Brawl tried to balance everyone by putting them all on about Diddy Kong's level. Brawl+ tried to balance everyone by changing physics, then checking who was out of line. We will try to balance everything by taking everyone and putting them all on the level of, approximately, Akuma from street fighter 2 turbo. Expect crazy action and moves you may never have seen before.

Well you want to download it, don't you? By the way, this is completely legal! You don't even need homebrew to download it! Here's how: (Note: This method does not work for PAL users. Also, you need to delete all your custom stages. Make sure the SD card has nothing on it at all!)

Step 1: Download the Brawl- official release right here.
Step 2: Copy the file structure onto your SD card. Then, download this GCT, rename it to RSBE01.gct, and copy the GCT file, and paste it in it /codes of your SD card.
Step 3: Download Gecko OS 1.9.3.1, and instead of putting it in apps, put the boot.elf file in your SD card root. (The boot.elf is located in /Gecko1931/Gecko1931/Gecko1931/HBC/Gecko1931/. Then copy the boot.elf, and paste it onto the SD card.)
Step 4: Download the stack smash stage. Go to /private/wii/app/RSBE/ of the smash stack file, and copy the st folder. Then, paste the st folder in /private/wii/app/RSBE/ of your SD card.
Step 5: Launch the game normally. Then, go to the stage builder. You should get a very weird screen, and then it should jump to Gecko OS.

I was wondering about that also lol

So in other words you can play regular brawl and whenever you want to play brawl- you put the SD card and go to stage builder etc.?

Is there any chance that it will screw up the wii? Will nintendo try to make an update to stop this?

Wait, how did hacking and copying copyrighted characters ever become legal?
From the FAQ:

Quote
# Q: Is installing this illegal?
# A: No. This form of hacking (softmodding the console) is not illegal. It is not even dangerous to your console. According to nintendo, if you softmod your wii, your warrantee is void. However, when nintendo can't start your wii because it bricks and you DO send it in (this is rare with the HBC; like a freak chance would cause this), they (usually) don't through the trouble of checking if you have installed homebrew or not. So perfectly safe, don't worry about it. In addition, it's possible that installing the HBC won't even be necessary for the use of this hack thanks to Stack Smash (a hack that exploits the stage builder and that requires no modding whatsoever).

I get the logic of softmodding. I guess it's not really THAT illegal, but even I'm not so sure about that. HAHAHA.

Well, it's not illegal for two reasons.
1. Because of what Muzy just stated, and
2. How they hacked the game. It's still built on everything from the original game, meaning that the amount of space the game took up on the disc, that's how much space they used for Brawl-. They didn't add in things to make the overall size of the game no bigger or no less; they used the same amount of memory as Brawl. All they did was switch up the pace, hitstuns, and basically reworked each character's moves to have different properties than what it would have on regular Brawl. That's why this is totally legal....except for the way I'm doing it, cuz I have Homebrew >.>

Also, me and Muzy so far have it, we haven't Brawled online yet with it, but it works!

I've been looking and it seems like this mod version is a bit too broken. I sort of like Balanced Brawl better. Cheesy

....pfft, like the regular Brawl's actually balanced, heh. You haven't seen the ridiculous amount advantages specific characters have over the rest yet. This buffs EVERYONE up, and the ones who were already too broken in the original aren't as buffed up as everyone else. Seriously, you gotta give it a shot. If you don't like it, you can always just take it out of your SD card and play regular Brawl. But, all we're just asking if for people to try it out here, see if they like it or not, and if you want, play online with it. Look, if you tried, you WILL feel the difference between it and Regular Brawl.

DJ's not talking about regular brawl! There's another hack called Balanced Brawl, which makes all the characters balanced.

Ehh... softmodding is illegal and its not... Depending on what you edit and what you do with it.
Most of you have nothing to worry as long as you're not changing it and making money off it.
WARNING!!!! There are other conditions that can make it illegal but you guys shouldnt worry about it and im fairly certain you wont break any of those laws.

Bottom Line -> _____________________
Installing Brawl Minus shouldnt get you into any legal problems if the government came to your house and checked out your wii. haha...
This warrning only covers this, if you have other questions just pm.

I'm pretty sure that there's a mass miss-using of the word "broken". The word "broken" does not equal cheap or unfair.

Anyways, I can't see how the video game is cheap while this shit makes it balanced lol. In the end, skill is all that matters. Remember, every character wins under the control of certain players.
