This is looking good too, shame that Miyamoto's demo of the controls didn't go so well.

They put that down to interference caused by Wi-Fi devices in the audience though.

I can't wait for this! I love the addition of Wii MotionPlus and the new art style. The art style looks like Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were put in a blender.

Screw Attack claim that the version they played on the show floor worked perfectly for them so I presume it was just a fuck up with the Wii that Miyamato was using.

This Link reminds me of the Link used in the Spaceworld(?) Gamecube Zelda trailer 10 years ago.

I tried really hard to be open minded about it before watching this... but I guess I might actually need to play it in order to get into it.

This has more awesomeness than Captain Falcon, Bang (Blazblue Tongue), Train Heartnet (Black Cat), and Kelsier (Mistborn) combined!

Wow... So this is where the Legend begins eh?  Maybe there will be multiple endings, with Link either splitting into the realistic Link or Toon Link, or ends up in either universe, or maybe they all branch out from this one.  This new Link really does look like a fusion Tongue

So it's a Link to the FUTURE

Hmm, I wonder what this actually implies. Maybe this is where the timelines suddenly merge...is that even possible?

Yeah, most likely, you can buy it with or without motionplus via a bundle... just like Wii Sports Resort. It's the normal promo strategy anyway.

GameSpot has come up with more facts that we haven't learned before (presumably from IGN):

PLOT INFO: The region where Link lives in is called Skyloft. It is a region above the clouds and its people have no knowledge of there being a land below the clouds. The Skyward Sword (which later becomes the Master Sword) becomes the main "mode of transportation" between Skyloft and the land below, Hyrule. Learning of the evil forces below, Link is forced to save the land of Hyrule once again. The Skyward Sword seems to possess intelligence and takes the semi-human semi-spirit form that was shown in the e309 poster. The sword is also the driving force behind the reason why Link has to travel between Skyloft and Hyrule. The story would also focus as to why the two lands are divided by a bank of clouds.

THEORY: Given that this is a sequel to Twilight Princess, some events may have prompted the people of Hyrule to evacuate the land and go to the City in the Sky, which would most likely have been renamed to Skyloft as a refuge from whatever happened to Hyrule. The sword served probably as the goddesses' answer to the people in order to escape Hyrule.

GAMEPLAY: The game would seem to focus less on plot and dungeons and focus more on fun. The breadth of the land is much more dense and in-depth as compared to Twilight Princess. No word yet has been released if Epona is making a comeback.

COMMENTS:

Hmm...with the implementation of Wii Motion Plus, the art direction and this new more focus to fun and less to plot tells us two things:
1. The casual audience seems to be one of the target audiences. Miyamoto sure wants to engage people in the experience this time around and less on the plot.
2. The game would probably very light in tone as compared to the darker titles of the series such as TP and MM. But given that Link is older, it wouldn't be too kiddy like WW, PH and ST.

The fact that travel is mostly on the sword bugs me a bit because the lack of mention of Epona is weird. I still want to ride Epona through Hyrule even if I have the sword to go from Skyloft to Hyrule. I hope Epona still makes it and she'll be the transpo in both regions.
