I think it's actually a new piece of hardware altogether, separate from the line of DS mutations.
They just chose a codename for the project that's gonna cause confusion.
I might be wrong.

Well, it will be compatible with DS and DSi games, and be a handheld, so it will probably fit into the family the same way the GameBoy and GBA do. Nintendo's last foray into 3D - their only 32-bit machine: The Virtual Boy |

it is not another iteration of the DS, it is a new handheld altogether, but is probably similar to the DS.

Yep. They just keep throwing these things out on the market. Regrettably I haven't heard anything yet about backwards compatibility for GB and GBA games. If they announced that, I would probably be sold. |

I'm assuming that they're not going that far back, and unfortunately I doubt they'll ever return there.  I think they're only headed back as far as the original DS goes. |

* Juan would have nightmares about that ipad was a crap idea... I say people should stick to a mini-laptop or a hand held, but not a jumbo-sized MP4 player. |

The screens will be smaller than the DSXL but i don't think by much. On an article it says the DSXL's screen is 4.2 inches diagonally, so I'm guess like 3.8 or maybe 4 inches diagonally? Will probably have 2 cameras since it is compatible with DSi games, and some of those require at least one of the cameras. Hopefully they are better than the .3 megapixel, hopefully something like 5 megapixel or higher.  |

Dude, the 3DS is going to be awesome . I heard its going to have GC-like graphics, and analog stick, and rumble. Having to buy games you already have and start over completely would be torture... This does sound better than the DSi, though. |
