This news came out last month but it's only now that I got to read about it...again through Phoenix Dragoon's blog. Anyways to make the long story short, Famitsu, the magazine that gives very strict "Simon Cowell-ish" game reviews, got a little comment from Sakurai about Brawl
"Sakurai recently said he will make and improve SSBB as optimum as possible.
He also said there will be many playable characters, more than you can imagine, and he said the team is still adding and programming characters. There will be more 3rd party characters too.
The combo control, he said, is relatively easy to control But to those who already played Melee, he recommends the GC controller
The best news is that SE will be in the best quality that is fun to play alone. It takes more than 10 hours to complete the story mode."
Now unlike CoroCoro, I don't trust Famitsu. Where CoroCoro just failed to deliver their promised "30 cards of Brawl" starting roster by December (we got it just recently), Famitsu also was the one that got word from Sakurai that Ice Climbers and Mr. G&W are not to be in Brawl. But after seeing both the Ice Climbers and the Icon Theory, this is wrong. But a counterargument is also that they may have reconsidered.
So in summary:
- Sakurai is making MORE characters, including more THIRD PARTY characters as well. - Melee players are recommended to use the GC CONTROLLER. - SE is 10+ HOURS. - Take this with a grain of salt.
Peace!

so, we can assume that megaman and zero will be joining the brawl, plus more. but this might mean pichu,too....... it would be cool if you could create levels in SE too like stage editor and choose your characters for it.(come on sakurai!) but 10 HOURS!!!!!! the day before brawl comes out i'm gonna be be stockpiling my room with provisions lol

10 HOURS?!?! I'm in love with this game already . I'm now thinking that whatever level of difficulty you choose, you would be able to unlock all characters unlockable from SE. Judging by what Sakurai is saying, he doesn't want to complicate the getting of hidden character process as what I think he's finding more important is people playing this mode. I guess he's just pretty proud of SE that the characters would be easy to unlock this time around. I might be wrong but that's how I see it. Woah...imagine...10 hours of gameplay for SE alone!

Are you guys reading the updates? The Subspace Emissary uses THE WHOLE brawl cast. You wouldn't need to do it many times. Most probably, you'd just need to do it once...even on easy. Sakurai's making the unlocking part of the game easy for all, as he's thinking of all the newbs.

i knew that it involved the whole cast-i was just stating that it would be cool if you could create your own SE missions like on stage editor and be able to choose which characters you wanted to use for it

Oh, I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to Rachaza. It seemed like he thought that you'd have to finish SE with every character. But I know what you meant. I think after you complete the mode, you'll be able to replay moments and use the characters you'd want to use. That's one explanation of how Sonic was with Mario in the Subspace Emissary.

oh you were talking about Rachaza OK. lol SE with every char would take years! Using the characters you want to use would bring tons of replay value too but you never know sonic and mario could be together- peach and kirby are very different too

yeah...well also to those people who don't know about subspace emissary. I'm finding it hard to believe a lot of people do not know parts of it...when it's been in the updates for a long time.

Maybe he means 10 hours to complete it with all the characters you start with. I doubt that you can't start SE with the character you want. Depending on what character you play with you will see his/her part of the story and you will most likely see it turn out good for the character you're controlling.

He also said there will be many playable characters, more than you can imagine, and he said the team is still adding and programming characters. There will be more 3rd party characters too. This is the only part that I don't believe. Surely they aren't going to have more then one third party character per franchise and we already have sega and what konami i think. Maybe we'll get Geno for square and Mega for capcom but I don't think we'll get anyone else besides those two. And if we do get a lot more 3rd parties then I will be very unhappy. Any more then 5 would just be rediculous. As for more characters then you can imagine...i doubt it. I personally don't want more then 40 characters unless this is the last Smash game(which I doubt). A huge roster would get annoying and if the emissary is only 10 hrs. long then there can't be that many characters. I also wonder if you could play the villain's part in the SSE. But actually...I think that towards the end of the game the bad guys end up helping the good guys to destroy a greater evil which is why we saw Meta Knight fighting with Ice Climbers in that one clip. I also think that I will save Peach not Zelda because the one that you don't save you'll have to most likely play as later in the game and the later you get in the game the harder games tend to get. So I think the smart thing to do is to save the Princess you are the worst at using so that when you do play as the other princess it will be easier to you...if that makes any sense.

I'm sure he's seen the "ads" about coming to smashpower but I think he's part of IGN Club so he's paying to use there site(in a way). So it would be like paying the rent for an apartment when you never even go to the apartment...
