Captain Olimar is among the most specialized characters within the cast of Smash Brothers Brawl.

In order to really unleash Olimar’s full potential, you’ve got to have a good knowledge of his helpful cohorts, the Pikmin!

<Standard Special Move: Pikmin Pluck>

Pluck, pluck, pluck up Pikmin.

First uproot a few Pikmin from the ground. You can have up to six Pikmin at one time. As long as there is ground beneath your feet, you can reach down and pull up a Pikmin, but be aware that certain Pikmin are more likely to appear in specific types of flooring.

There are 5 types of Pikmin to use!

- Red Pikmin -

  • High attack power
  • Attacks imbued with incendiary properties
  • Immune to fire

- Yellow Pikmin -

  • Range of attack slightly larger than usual; easy to hit enemies with
  • Travel in slight arcs when thrown
  • Attacks imbued with electrical properties

- Blue Pikmin -

  • Strong when thrown
  • Slightly more durable than average

- Purple Pikmin -

  • Doesn’t fly far when thrown
  • Slow
  • High attack power
  • Slams into enemies instead of latching on when thrown

- White Pikmin -

  • Quick and light
  • When latched onto opponent, poison does additional damage

You can figure out which Pikmin you will attack with next by looking at the order they are lined up in.

You’ll use a Red Pikmin in your next attack.

In order to perform a Smash Attack, certain midair attacks, and even throws, you’re going to need Pikmin!

Anyhow, just do your best to not kill off your platoon. Olimar doesn’t stand much of a chance by himself.

Pikmin don’t have graves, you know.

<Side Special Move: Pikmin Throw>

Throw Pikmin that latch on to your opponent!

They’ll cause an enemy’s damage percentage to slowly rise!

<Up Special Move: Pikmin Chain>

If you think you’re about to plunge to your doom, this right here is your best chance for survival.

The recovery distance for this technique is dependent upon the number of Pikmin currently in your troop!

Just imagine what would’ve happened if you had had one less Pikmin!

<Down Special Move: Pikmin Order>

Call back Pikmin who have managed to separate from you. You can also use this technique to shift a new Pikmin to the front of the line.

Tweeet! Line up, everyone!

So there you have it. I bet you’re a little confused by his eccentric play style.

But don’t fret! It’s easier than it looks. Spend some time playing around with him. That’s key.

Whoa, the battlefield sure is crowded today.

It really reminds me of Pichu and how you hurt yourself while attacking others.

Well, I think that this character is going to be for the advanced players and I am going to pick him for sure!

Hehe wow another really awsome update for the week. I was hoping for Olimars moveset but not so quickly lol. Anyways, it looks like he is going to have a very awsome and unique fighting style and i think it's just funny how the pikmin just latch onto your opponents.

Yeah I think I need to see him in action to really understand how he works, but I kinda got 2 impressions from this:
1. He sounds kind slow because he has to pluck pikmin out of the ground.
2. It seems like his attack strength and speed are all based on luck because you cant really control which colored pikmin he will get...

Idk nor care that much though cause I will probably never or very rarely play as him...

Aww have a little more faith in the guy, he personally really intrigues me on his play style. Oh and to comment on your point #2, he can have control to what Pikmin are in front. For his Down Special he calls his Pikmin to order and it says that it can be used to rotate a new Pikmin to the front of the line. So really you can rotate the lineup for the situation you feel.

He also mentioned that certain types of land will help determine what color pikmin you get.  So you should be able to get the ones you want.

I think Olimar is going to be powerful, but hard to manage.  I think

Here's the question though how will Kirby use this power?  My guess is that the pikmin will do something on their own.  Probably attack anybody who gets to cloes to them they'll start hitting.

Oh i'll be all ready for it, you shouldn't let a challenge push you away. Now i'm not saying i'm going to main Olimar but i definitley want to give it a shot. It's going to be so much fun beating up on my brother, sister, and friends with Olimar and his wee lil' pikmin heh.

i am deffinetly going to try and learn how to use him, plus i think it might be a little easier to master him for those who played his games, his moveset is similar to how you control him in pikmin 1 or 2

I think it's quite easy to guess what Kirby will do the Pikmin. He'd pluck them up and now, the Pikmins would be incorporated to his smash attacks. It would look fun seeing Kirby steal the glory of being a Pikmin master. HAHA.

Anyways, I find this intriguing. It seems Olimar is another Tether user, but without Pikmin...he couldn't recover...unless he does down b...but will the pikmin come in time to save you? Now that seems harsh. Side B would obviously be useless without pikmin and normal b would just be useless without ground. What if it's like in skyworld and all the ground is removed...could you pluck from clouds instead? And what intrigues me more is...for those with tether recoveries...what happens when all platforms are destroyed in Skyworld and you suddenly fall. What would you tether to? This seems interesting. I can't wait to hit Olimar while he's plucking Pikmin or is in air without any of them. You'd really have to manage those pikmin in order to use them well.
