Simple, because they are having to extend updates for the new Feb. 10th release date. Also at this point we can safely assume that the characters listed on the dojo are the characters that will be available from start to play as. I hope they DON'T unviel anymore of the unlockable characters. What excitement is there in getting the "Challenger Approaching!" prompt when you already know who it is going to be. I say give me useless updates if it will preserve the unknown excitement of what the game was supposed to be in December.

I agree. I almost stopped going to Sakurai's website when he started posting new people, but I held off, because I was sure that he wouldn't post hidden ones.
Sakurai is clearly a gamer's gamer, so I trust he knows what he's doing with the updates.
There can't be too many more characters (prove me wrong Sakurai!) So expect new characters to be announced only on big dates.

Yeah its a simple answer. Sakurai is posting useless updates because he has to post them once a day, 5 days a week, for the next 3 months. Obviously not every update is gunna be exciting. And also, that just makes it more fun when theres actually an exciting update. If everyday was the same, people would get bored. Enough said.

I wonder if Sakurai is going to post something up exciting on Holidays like thanksgiving, christmas and new year's eve (that if they are not on the weekends).
I even wonder if he would continue posting after the game is released? I'm sure there is hidden stages and characters to be posted up afterward.

Christmas and New Years are both Tuesdays.
Thanksgiving is a Thursday (of course) but I don't believe the Japanese celebrate it, so I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.
Another likely big news day will be the former release day (Dec 3 I think?)

cool love the idea of olimar on dec 3rd.
and not only is there stil.. i think 57 weekdays worth of updates left to fill, they wont announce locked characters till afterwards! they probably struggled to plan the updates for those days as it is lol!
actually maybe one more newcomer, maybe up to 4 more vets their attacks and FS' plus the remaininng attacks and FS' of listed charactersthats 16-28 possible updates on characters. then the last 29-41 updates would hate to be items and crap with a few gems like new modes.

Even after 3 months longer of updates, I think there will still be plenty of secrets to find out in the game. Sakurai doesn't want to spoil everything so he's spacing them out.
