Gliding isn't as all powerful as most people think it is.  As far as I can tell, it's going to work like Mario's glide ability in Mario 64, which means that while you can technically go up, you're cutting your speed and you won't go up far.

Also, it looks to me like returning via glide will also make you very vulnerable.

Yes, people with glide are going to have an easier time recovering than people who don't, but Samus already had ungodly recover ability and that didn't make her invincible, just a bit harder to get rid off.
so THAT'S why I lose against Samus users!

Noting that you cut speed, you wouldn't actually be able to finish the whole trip up with gliding alone. You'll need enough energy to overcome the change from Kinetic to Potential to Kinetic Energy. And usually, you'll lack momentum as you go up. The real strategy would be to short glide, jump, short glide, jump, short glide, jump, etc, up special

It's simple, but it's a strategy to ensure successful recovery nonetheless. However, I doubt you could glide more than once in midair so the method would have to be even simpler  Grin:
Jump, Fair glide, Jump, Up Special

This may work to the advantage of heavysets like Charizard, who are hard to be hit too far. However if they are indeed hit far due to damage, I doubt they could jump high and the method may work against them, good thing I dislike heavysets  Grin
