I'm willing to bet that Nintendo paid for Sonics' inclusion though how much exactly we may never know. Though i've heard plenty of bad things about the Olympics game to recommend you only rent it at most.
You are probably right about his inclusion, but I'm more leaning towards the Olympics game being responsible for this reason. As for the Olympics game, it was decent for a mini-games game. It was no WarioWare, but decent nonetheless. It was a very stupid beginning for the creation of Mario-Sonic crossovers though. A rent should be enough
