Costume change, a possibility?

Well with the new update we all know that the changes in color are just that only a color change and not a costume swap. I would like to be optimistic and think there is still hope for the costume changes and but i also find it hard to think they would have 6 color swaps plus costume changes. Possibiity would be the coins! I know Sakurai said no coin "spending" but maybe, just maybe. What do you guys think, to costume or not to costume?

I think that costume changes could be a possibility, but they would be unlockables. Maybe whenever you clear something with a specific character (i.e., Classic mode) you would also unlock an alternate costume for the character you clear the mode with. If not, then it probably would be through coins, like with the Trophies in Melee. At least, that's what I think.

i like the idea, but i don't think the coins will be used for that (but who knows, sakurai might be tricking us, lol )

some people may be able to costume change into diffrent characters, like mario in a doctor outfit, smaus with the dark smaus light blue suit or sonic in a shadow look

I like these ideas, I posted something similar to what you said on IGN Sigma. Unlocking costumes by doing certain tasks with the characters. But the Shadow costume unlockable is a great idea for Sonic. Shadow rocks

Well if Shadow was a costume change for sonic i would be happy..!

My first thought was sadness, because at this point, costumes are unlikely due to the fact that fusion samus is just the fusion colors painted over Samus's regular armor.  Also Link's blue outfit is just his regular clothes and not his Zora suit. (Ninja-fish Link FTW!)

However, neither of these are concrete.  Samus has soooo many different looks, that having one dropped down to a color choice isn't concrete.  Similarly if Costumes and colors are different, then Link can probably run the color gambit on any of his special suits.

That being said, I still feel that costumes are unfortunately going to be absent.

Which is too bad, because I want Fierce Deity Link!

Well...the only costume change is Dark Link so far! HAHA! The others just seem like color swaps with more detailed parts. But honestly, the coins would go for spectator mode, where you'd bet the winner of the match.

Dark Link is technically just a color swap.  It's just an extreme color swap.

So far the only actual "costume change" we have is the classic pokehats.

I wonder if the other pokemon will get hats...

odds are against having different pokemon.  As IGN pointed out, their moves and shapes (particularly CHarizard) makes it hard to replce them with anybody else.

that is true.  Especially if you're willing to walk away from straight elemental connections.

Draatini could definitely replace Charizard and he's the hardest one.
