because they both had the ability in their game.  Deded basically came in as a bigger badder version of Kirby with a hammer.  Only Kirby picked up the abilty to steal powers and Dedede didn't.

It's a characteristic of Kirbys. I consider MetaKnight as a knight kirby while Dedede is King right? so he has to have Kirby-like atrributes as well.

I have a feeling dedede is gunna be pretty good. It will be easy to do small jumps with him. Hopefully he has powerful aerial moves.
