the ssbm is the boaring one were there is this japanese guy and he sees some ninjas in a glass box and he walks over and its a gamecube. then the room spins and he is playing melle. (i think my memory isnt so good)

Definately the original style commercial (with a bit of gameplay mixed in). I would love to see someone beat the crap out of a guy in a sonic costume, but that's just me.

I accidentally voted for the wrong one. I said original, because that would be funny, but I actually have a different idea that I think would be funnier.
Shows Mario walking down a city street, saying high to various other character, everybody is cheerful and nice to eachother. Then he turns the corner and comes face to face with Sonic.
Suddenly tension fills the air. Mario and Sonic just look at eachother. The others gather around, nobody willing to do anything.
All of a sudden Mario and Sonic simultaneously launch into attacks, and bedlem breaks loose as everybody starts fighting everybody. Real riots in the streets type. DK is throwing cars, Bowser crashes through windows, Pikachu is sent sprawling by a hastily opened fire hydrant, etc.
It slowly zooms out on all the destruction as the combatants continue to fight and the Smash Brothers logo appears. YOu hear the announcer say "It's that time again."

The only reason why Sonic got an opening role was because I chose somebody Mario would have a rivalry with. Actually thinking back, it should probably be an older and more random character, so let's say he bumps into Link instead.

It's a commercial. All of the characters need not be in it. The original only had 4...Mario, DK, Yoshi and Pikachu. |

The "Wii Would Like To Play" commercial is as inevitable as the dawn.
But I totally prefer SLG's HulkSMASH's idea. Especially with the Sonic/Mario opening... you don't have to have all the characters, but Snake was so shocking you'd have to include him in a commercial. Have him suddenly jump out of a box or something.
EDIT: Oops. I have no idea how I made that mistake, really.
