''The New Play Control! series, known in Japan as Wii de Asobu, Play on Wii, is a program by Nintendo to upgrade  GameCube games for release on the Wii. These re-releases will incorporate graphical improvements, which include 16:9 widescreen support. They will also feature reconfigured controls to fit the Wii Remote.''   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Play_Control!

Games include:

1.DK jungle beat
2.pikmin I and II
3.mario power tennis
4.Chibi robo
5.metroid prime
6.metroid prime II echoes

Because I haven't played many of these games, I am generally pleased with this, notably for pikmin. Still, this is a pretty poor show from nintendo, Remakes??? come on. where's the creativity?

One question: How much will these cost?
GameCube games these days are not all the expensive. If Nintendo tries to make me buy an old GameCube game that's even close to the price of a new Wii game, I'm not going to buy it.
If I can buy an old GameCube game, for the GameCube, and play them on my Wii, being able to play them with a Wiimote just wouldn't be worth a much larger price.

They recently re-released the first Pikmin game with upgraded controls.

New Wii games cost £40, the Pikmin rehash cost £30.

You cannot be serious Nintendo.

Needless to say, I will not be buying.

Wha...? That's ridiculous.

Quote
Well, Pikmin is set for a February 6th release, with Mario Power Tennis releasing on March 6th, and each title has a suggested price of £39.99, according to retailers. Nintendo has stepped in to say that their recommended price is £29.99, but it would seem that retailers aren't following that guideline.

If my understanding is correct, then:

£40 roughly equals $55
£30 roughly equals $40

Even at the best price, there is almost zero chance of me paying that much. Pikmin is up for proximately $55, and its on eBay for $10 plus $4 shipping. That's a $41 difference.
I don't have a problem with buying "used" games. I never have. And I especially won't with that difference.
Sure, the trivial improvements would be nice, as would the widescreen support, but not nearly nice enough.

So with that said, option One gets my vote.

I see that price at EB Games, so I hope it will be widespread.
Unless my conversions done via this currency converter are wrong, then the suggested and seemingly planned prices really are $40 and $55.

Regardless, I'd still rather pay half for an old GCN game.

The Nintendo Magazine rated the Pikmin game this month, haven't read it yet....brb.

bk.
Right, it mainly talks about the game in the review but it stresses that the new control mechanisim works very well.

They also say that you should only really get this game if you missed out on it the first time.
