I apologize in advance if there was already a topic on this but i was sort of thinking about it earlier. We have speculated, guessed, and hinted at chracters that could be but there are also going to be the inevitable "HOLY CRAP HE/SHE IS IN HERE?!" I pretty much felt that way when i saw Game n' Watch, Mewtwo, and Ganondorf in Melee. We look back now and they were reasonable, almost predictable, inclusions but what about for Brawl?
We all know it has to happen, but what characters will catch you off guard that might have that snowballs chance in hell to be included?

I mean, we already know about him now, but that was my response. More than Ganon, Mewtwo, Ice Climbers, or even Game and Watch.
Even with the rumors of 3rd party, I was expecting Sonic, but never thought I'd see Snake.
Come on man! He's Solid Snake! Who the heck could have seen him coming?!

That's actually a really good point. I guess i kind of took it for granted that he is now in the game. Though if you would have came up to me before he was announced and told me Snake would be in Brawl i would say you're crazy. A couple of characters that would do that to me: Bomberman, Banjo Kazooie, and Cloud. I realize Cloud is one of Squares golden idols and also that the PSP has a mash up fighting game to include many of Squares characters, Dissidia i think it was called. Though i still hold out for it, come on Nintendo hit me with a monster surprise! |

I couldn't resist: noone - so that's a none in noon...got it! a great edition - hmm... I thought he's a character. He's not an edition that says Super Smash Bros. Snake. HAHA. Addition maybe but not edition. awesoem - so it gives aw but what's with so em...ah...I get it. It gives great awe because it's so him. I get you! |

I wouldn't say I saw Metaknight or Pit coming, but at the same time their inclusion didn't really floor me. I was excited as they're both really cool characters, but since we've had some oldschoolers in already (the Ice CLimbers) them ressurecting another wasn't that big a deal.
Yeah, anybody from Blizzard would be a shock. I'd be happy, but it'd probably floor me even more than Snake did.
Really it comes down to taking characters from something dark and gritty. Only now you need to top Metal Gear, and avoid any kind of super soldier connection, so War/Starcraft is pretty high on that list, as would a Mortal Kombatant, but that would just be wierd.
