Ice Climbers are only recognised so much now because of their appearance in Melee. if you want to take a trip down memory lane , you'll see that there was a time where every video rental place with video games had a copy of ice climber . it was really , REALLY not an obscure game . with the times , it faded as a new generation of video game noobs came to power , but for those of us who were there , that game was spot-on . i really don't think mario rpg was comparable , but maybe i'm wrong .

pit and ice climbers were classics. along with metroid. these games were ones nintendo were proud of. mario rpg was sold in japan and north america. having said that being proud probably doesnt come into the reason that never hit the rest of the world but stil it was never huge. pikmin and olimar (mentioned earlier for being in the same boat as geno.. i kno wtf?) are a unique, clever nintendo owned invention so theyre in with no hastles. square made a game using mario characters and its specific that all non nintendo characters are property of square enix. so while the game may be co-owned geno is not.

No, you're right. When Mario RPG came out it was definitely a popular game, and it was all over the place, but a lot of people were like "wtf an RPG with Mario?" Plus, RPG's aren't that rentable, if you know what I mean. It's hard to get into the meat of an RPG when you have the game for 2 nights. Ice Climbers on the other hand was something you could play around with so it's much more of a rentable game. Ice Climbers was definitely a game that embodied the quick pick up and play enjoyment of the early Nintendo games. Therefore, Geno is definitely more of a cult character than the Ice Climbers, who were simply left behind in the history of video games until Melee came out. Most of the people who played Mario RPG owned it so it didn't reach everyone like something that was more rentable could.

Unfortunately, I was never able to play Super Mario RPG.
Perhaps, there will come a time when Nintendo and Square Enix decide to release this obscure gem via the Virtual Console. Until then, I'll continue my search for a bloody Wii Point Card. Every time I stroll down to my local Gamestop, their Wii section is replete with Classic Controllers but no Point Cards. Of course, there are plenty of copies of "Hannah Montana: The Video Game" OMG!!!
It's like some cruel twisted joke. And I usually like cruel twisted jokes.

Sakurai brought back Pit. Why can't he bring back Geno with a new look?

Yeah he also brought back the Ice Climbers. But I still am in doubt of Geno being a PC. Maybe a AT at most.

Lawls, completely missed this topic for it being on the second page, my bad.
Yeah, Geno definitely has a chance in Brawl, he was HIGHLY suggested, can have an incredible moveset, have his own level, song and not to mention, it can help bring back the memories of SMRPG.
Remember, this installment of Smash may be the last one, so Sakurai is making sure the final roster is VERY fan friendly. As we have seen already, we can honestly tell Sakurai is listening to the fans in this game.
Assist Trophies? Final Smashes? Pimin and Olimar? Pit? Dedede? A story mode?
All of those have been suggested WAY before the release of any Brawl information (of course, in the case of AT's and Final Smashes, they were called other names)
This is really more of a fan game, and Geno is one of the MOST requested characters for Brawl.

Alright now I need your help on this one. Does this really look like it was Geno. Look at around 1:55-1:58. Let me know what you guys think. <object width="425" height="373"><param name="movie" value=" http://www.youtube.com/v/AzpmFLy3P-0&rel=1&border=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src=" http://www.youtube.com/v/AzpmFLy3P-0&rel=1&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="373"></embed></object> I think it looks like him.

I saw this video on Brawl Central and saw a close up of the trophy in question. It certainly could be Geno shaped or it certainly could be Munchlax or something else like that. To be perfectly honest the resolution on that video is very bad and a blue blob with some yellow is very very hard to make out. If it is somehow a trophy of him it means he's at least in in some capacity...

The quality of the video is too bad to see clearly who it is.
Just cause it's a small blue thing with bits of yellow, people will assume it's Geno. I wouldn't be surprised if a Geno hater saw that and just went around saying "LOOK! GENO TROPHY MEANING DECONFIRMATION".
It's really all up in the air for now.

It's like and ink blot test or lying on the grass and looking at clouds, if you want to see something bad enough you will see it. I can "clearly" see both Geno and Munchlax if I switch my thoughts to those characters. I could probably also see a can of Pepsi or Smurfette if I was looking for random blue objects/characters. The fact is we don't really know...but in 3 days we will!

Hmm...like Rocky said...there is no such word as DECONFIRM. Nothing can't be deconfirmed.
