So the pokémon are a bit more confusing than I thought. When it was just Zelda and Sheik, Sheik retained all of Zelda's statuses whether giant, tiny, metal, invisible and etc. But what happens if let's say Squirtle gets the Superspicy Curry, when the trainer switches right after, would Ivysaur have it? Or if Ivysaur doesn't have it when Squirtle comes back, will he still have the curry? Or if Charizard becomes gigantic, when it switches would squirtle be gigantic? The list goes on. So when a pokémon takes on a status, will it be retained by the next pokémon, by the pokémon who got it or it will just get lost. Any input on this?

in pokemon games, if you raised your stats then switched out, you would lose your stats, but if you have a status problem, you keep it even if you switched

here i guess it would just swift over to the next pokemon

Just like the conversion from Zelda to Sheik, i think that the effects of status items will be kept.

Pokemon Trainer will probably keep all the same status's. I wouldn't be suprsied if they set it up so you didn't though. Like for example if charizard stays giant for a total of 30 seconds. If charazard stays out for 5 seconds when he is giant and you switch out, then next time he switchs on he will be giant for the remaining 25 seconds. I would like to see ivy saur getting  beaten down then all of a sudden GIANT CHARAZARDS APPEARS! I think it would be really neat if you could do that.

I think it would go to the next pokemon, since they really are just 1 character with 3 ummm....subcharacters..

I'd bet that it switches to the next character.  Brawl rules trump Pokemon rules in this universe, so it'll be like Zelda/Sheik.

But the thing is...these three are not the same person. With Zelda and Sheik, they're one person that just changes appearance and technique but as for the pokémon, they really switch out and are separate entities from each other. So what happens to the status item is the question. It's weird if Squirtle eats the superspicy curry and suddenly the food transfers to Ivysaur's mouth. (OMG, that sounded so gross). But yeah, I think it would involve either getting lost or retained once brought out again.

While I see the reasoning in "they are different characters" I doubt the game will treat them as such, as that would be pretty exploitable.

My question is will the changes affect the pokemon trainer as well.  Obviously it wouldn't have any impact on the game, but will he grow bigger, smaller, metal, etc?

I dont think so since hes at a distance and isnt directly involved in the brawl but 2 give sum input I think status conditions would just transfer eventhough logically it wouldnt make sense. Kibotos actually came up with a good point refering to the pokemon games

Maybe, although unlikely, you might not be able to change pokemon at all while you have these items.
