ninja gaiden in brawl??

the December issue of Nintendo Power is out and its cover story is Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword for DS.  One question in an off-the-cuff interview with Tomonobu Itagaki (head of Team Ninja, the developer) asked about the possibility of seeing Ryu in Brawl.  Here's what he said:

NP: "Any chance we'll see Ryu in Super Smash Bros. Brawl?"

TI: "[Laughs] That sounds like it would be really fun.  I wonder, is Mr. Sakurai also familiar with ninjas?"
Since this interview is very recent, you would think that he'd deny it, like Keiji Inafune did with Mega Man.  But he doesn't really even answer the question, merely saying that it would be cool.

There is other anecdotal evidence to support the idea, if you think about this:

Nintendo has always used the Smash series to promote its' lesser-known games.  Earthbound wasn't very well-known before people began to ask what game Ness was from in the original Smash.  Fire Emblem was just coming to America for the first time (IIRC) when Melee came out, and so they tossed in Marth/Roy.  None of these characters were known about until the release of the respective games.

Now, NG is not exactly an unknown game--the series got its' start on NES with three(!) games that are now available on the VC.  Pit, another character that hasn't been seen on a Nintendo system since the NES (except for gameboy), is known to be in the game.  The Ice Climbers, coming from similar roots, were introduced in the last installment.

Couple this with the fact that the new Ninja Gaiden DS game is coming out soon after Brawl, giving it free advertising to those unfamiliar with NG, and we have a very strong possibility that our lovable ninja badass will be in the game.

i say that anything is possible,it would be cool to have him in,but i wouldnt count on it...

I wouldn't put too much stock in that.  That's pretty much the exact same thing that was said about Sonic to rumors about him being in Melee.

The fact is, public faces for these situations almost never deny anything 100%.  Also the way he said it sounds like he's probably not.  Then again, he might be a secret character and he's avoiding saying anything conclusive.

I still want ninja though.

Honestly i think it would be kind of cool to see him in the game. We don't really have a ninja in the game yet hehe. Though i guess with the T rating we can't hope to see him use a decapitation FS on Zelda or anyone else lmao. (Awaiting the fanboy backlash).

b/c its not what he said that mattered. it is the information he provided about a nintendo power magazine, i couldve just said i read nintendo power and this was said. The poster and the words of his is not the point of the thread.

my, ninja gaiden was a splendid game when I played it as a little boy. Switching back and forth between Ninja Gaiden and Rygar on my NES system.
I've forgotten all about it. Until the sight of Ninja Gaiden being on Xbox broke my heart. Just like Banjo Kazooie broke my heart.
With Ryu being in SSBB will mend my broken heart. But, I have to admit, I highly doubt Ryu will be in it.

I used to think he wasn't a possiblity. I read the nintendo power a couple days ago and made another thread on this. I had to delete it after superluigi showed me this one. I think its a possibility, i don't really care if hes in because ive never played a ninja gaiden game. I would like to see some suprise characters in brawl though.
