Megaman: Universal Climax
Years ago I set out to create the ultimate Mega Man fanfic – a fanfic that was totally unlike any other. Megaman: Universal Climax is what has become of my ambitions. It is hardly complete, but what I have planned for it is climatic. I have fused every series into one canon universe (some to a small degree), with each series exploited to its fullest. The fanfic will take the form of a trilogy, with each book introducing a different level of story and plot upon each addition.
Basically, this trilogy takes the three primary Megaman "worlds" and joins them harmoniously together-- all without infringing on the canonical essence of the Mega Man timeline. Pretty much like this:
ZX series Legends series
|_____ _______|
|
Original series--X series--Zero series--MMUC |
|
Battle Network Series
|
Star Force Series
These three "worlds" correspond to...
- Robots/reploids (Original/X/Zero)
- Humans + advanced cybernetics/Net Navis (Battle Network/Star Force)
- Humans/humanoids + reploid/robotic technology (ZX and Legends).
Each "world" will be focused on appropriately, and have its own protagonists.
My goal with this fanfic is to give the Megaman timeline the ending it deserves.
A basic series overview: After nearly a century of peace and prosperity, world stability again finds itself threatened, and by a power that is dangerously and deceivingly self-concealed. Old and new Mega Man heroes alike rise to the occasion, and the world is hit with manipulative Network assaults and Reploid uprisings, followed by nation-wars in both the Cyber and Real worlds, and then ultimately world enslavement into a tyrannical system unparalleled in times past. The heroes find themselves the only people capable of world-delivery—albeit with a slim chance—and go global against the evil of old, against all odds, seeking to forever free the world from its grasp.
Some central characters:(Note two things: Battle Network characters will go by their Japanese names in order to avoid confusion with their Original-timeline counterparts, and many ZX themed protagonists will be fan-made to adhere to the proper technology and plot of the day)
Original timeline -
Megaman X
Zero
Prairie
Professor Alexander
Battle Network series -
Netto Hikari (Lan Hikari)
RockMan.EXE (MegaMan.EXE)
Enzen Ijuin (Eugene Chaud)
Blues.EXE (ProtoMan.EXE)
Forte.EXE (Bass.EXE)
Dr. Hikari
Dr. Regal
ZX themed -
Daniel Kaylar
Tristan Grand
Raydon
Some story basics:The three represented MM worlds will have their own interweaving plots. For instance, X and Zero will deal with the reploid/political aspect of the story; Netto and RockMan will deal with the cybernetic aspect of the story; and Daniel Kaylar and Tristan Grand will deal with the social/reploid aspect of the story.
Also worthy of note is that the Battle Network plot is treated as canon, with the events of MegaMan Battle Network 1 - 3.5 (Battle Chip Challenge) having happened in the past. The plot begins with game 4, and finishes with game 6. Each book in the trilogy roughly coincides with the final three MMBN games. Note, however, that the MMBN games are used as a
rough guide for the cybernetic aspect of the story.
Also, to keep the whole "world in peace" thing believable, I've had to up the ages of the Battle Network characters a little bit. Lan (Netto) is 16 years old in the trilogy.
World and History overview [not yet set in stone]:Following the events of Megaman Zero (the unholy persecution of reploids by Neo Arcadia, the abominable dictatorship of the villainous Dr. Weil, and the Ragnarok catastrophe), the world was left with a very sour taste in its mouth for massive governmental powers. In an effort to prevent any possible re-occurrences of their troubled past, the people of the world kept themselves from creating "large" nations and governments. They kept close ties, but didn't join each other. A count of 35 nations was maintained for many years.
During this time, Dr. Ciel and many other technology and robotics specialists worked hard on improving and developing world technology. Their efforts proved most successful in enhancing and improving national and international affairs, and brought much aid and prosperity to the inhabitants of the world.
Cybernetics were focused upon as well. A scientist by the name of Tadashi Hikari worked together with Dr. Ciel to create a superior internet and cybernetic system. All technology became intricately connected to this system (dubbed "the Net"), and cybernetic entities were fashioned from the present-day Cyber-elves (powerful sentient computer programs) to aid humanity. These entities were made available for any and every person on earth, and were called Net Navis (short for Internet Navigators). These Net Navis were carried around inside PETs (or Personal Exploration Terminals), and assisted their Net Operators in whatever technological need they had.
Within the following years, the fear of possible world tyranny eventually subsided in a handful of nations. These nations formed alliances, and those alliances later grew into full-blown merges.
Perhaps the most important to all at this point was that there was total peace. Humans and Reploids coexisted peacefully. There were no "maverick" uprisings.
However, after a period of many years, uprisings unexpectedly started up again, and that fact only made them all the more alarming. Rogue reploids abandoned their spirit of servitude and sought to separate themselves from the nations, hoping to maintain a position of superiority over the "vastly inferior humans". Fortunately, the world's military power was more than capable of handling the Maverick uprisings as they came. Or so it seemed.
There were Mavericks who chose not to turn into open activists and act upon impulse, but instead silently assimilate themselves until they became great enough to pose a threat.
These Mavericks gathered in the "Outlands" - incredibly vast and swampy areas situated throughout the world. Originally being discarded land, the Outlands were the outlet locations for the world's weather control systems. Before long, traversing these lands became dangerous due to the accumulation of Mavericks.
As Maverick uprisings became more common, one nation stood out among all the others. The nation had experienced no uprisings within its borders whatsoever, and had unparalleled success in maintaining order, prosperity, and peace. This nation became known as "Elysium" - so dubbed by the inhabitants.
Elysium boasted an incredibly powerful military - something that no doubt found root in the military leadership of the world-renown military commanders, X and Zero. These two robots were globally recognized as saviors of the world due to their past deeds, and possessed authority surpassing all but those who directly governed nations.
In an effort to hopefully match the security of Elysium, people near the Outlands formed a military unite called "the Guardians". The Guardians were meant to research and counteract any Maverick activity near the borders, and keep things from getting out of hand. Originally lead by Ciel (who had lead the Resistance approximately 70 years back), her "sister", a young-looking female reploid by the name "Prairie", later lead them after she mysteriously vanished in the Outlands during an excavation dig.
By this time, and with the help of Dr. Tadashi Hikari's brilliant son, Dr. Yuichiro Hikari, three special intercommunication satellites were put into orbit: Leo, Pegasus, and Dragon. These satellites supported the world's cybernetic system, creating and upholding an extended and new 3D wireless Net world (or Wave World), which then linked directly to all technological devices. They also managed teleportation.
With this wireless Wave World, the power of the Cyber Elves allowed them to "materialize" wherever and whenever - and not just around data "hot spots", as in times prior.
Eventually, it was the cyber world that eventually put the world in peril instead of the now quiet Mavericks. An evil Net organization by the name WWW (pronounced "World Three") made a couple of full-blown attempts for a world takeover. Their leader, Dr. Wile [
a necessarily name alteration...], was a spiteful old robotics specialist who was angry at the world and the deceased Tadashi Hikari, his best friend of old. The world-renown Net Officials were unable to to stop him, and it was Tadashi's 11-year-old grandson, Netto Hikari, who brought down his devious plans with the help of his Net Navi, RockMan.EXE.
Netto and RockMan put an end to three domination attempts: two by WWW, and one by an evil syndicate named "Gospel" (recorded in
MegaMan Battle Network 1-3).
Thereafter, the waves of the world became calm.
MMUC trilogy plot [minimal spoiler warning]:In the year 2399 AD, five years after the last Net incident, Elysium stands as the largest nation in the world. Its borders resting on almost every continent, only nineteen nations exist separated - and out of those nineteen, only seven have not experienced a nation merge.
Elysium now exists as a sort of democracy, with the conjoined nations of times past forming the different governmental bodies. Joining these bodies together is the head Elysium sector – the sector at the core of Elysium with a single human leader. When applicable, this leader acts in accordance with the joint decisions of the different governmental bodies.
The current leader, Emperor Constantine, is old and soon to pass on his seat of power. Before he finishes his rule, he strives to do what he can to ensure the present and future unity and prosperity of the world. Part of that means doing what he can to extend Elysium's military forces into threatened nations and provide military support. Another part of that includes hosting two simultaneous global Net Battling tournaments called "Red Sun" and "Blue Moon", in an effort to promote world integration and unity.
With this in mind, Elysium takes action in aiding the few nations who accept support in taking down tricky Maverick strongholds and investigating a new and alarming rumor of a possible Maverick organization.
X, who is a personal friend of Constantine, takes it upon himself along with Commander Zero to oversee the fulfillment of Elysium's endeavors.
Meanwhile, news of the world-scale Net Battle tournament reaches ACDC Town, the home of 16-year-old Netto Hikari. After several years of no serious Net crime, Netto jumps on the opportunity for some new Net action. So he sets off with RockMan to hone their Net Battling skills.

Beginning social status: World Hero; Highest ranking robot in the world; Top commander of Elysium's military.
Appearance: Humanoid with differing shades of blue. Resembles a tall young adult male.
Historic accomplishments: Launched the world into a period known as "the Golden Age of Robotics"; Saved the world countless times from master Reploid villain, Commander Sigma; put an end to the Maverick Wars; put an end to the Elf Wars; chosen ruler of Neo Arcadia; freed the world from the horrors of the "Dark Elf" by sacrificing himself and using his body as a sealing vessel; later aided the Resistance in overcoming Weil's world domination attempts.
Special characteristics: -A powerful machine of war, equipped with arm plasma cannons and Weapon Copy abilities.
-Through "armor capsules" provided by his long deceased creator, X is able to quire battle armor and gain unparalleled power and abilities.
Short bio: Created in the year 201X by the brilliant scientist Dr. Light (who had created his world hero predecessor, Mega Man), X was unearthed 100 years later by an archeologist named Dr. Aleutian Cain and harbored unparalleled robotic technology. Unlike the robots preceding him, X exhibited unrestricted artificial intelligence and was programmed with a conscience - he was literally a robot human. Dr. Cain studied his technology and created a new robotic "race" of robots called "Reploids" (as they were replicates of X) to aid humanity. For several months, the world lived in an Utopia - but then things began to go wrong.
Long story short, these Reploids became subject to an evil virus (known as the Maverick Virus) that caused them to go mad and rebel against humanity. Their reoccurring leader, ex-Maverick Hunter Commander Sigma, was a persistent and ever-returning villain bent on world domination and human enslavement and annihilation.
X, programmed with a strong sense of justice and subject to a guilty conscience, battled relentlessly to rid the world of the robotic threat. After over a century of fighting, he was finally able to stop the Maverick Wars with the help of the "Mother Elf" and Zero, his longtime ally.
Upon the absence of the Maverick Virus, X helped set up a massive government called Neo Arcadia with the prospects of world peace. This nation was then ruled by him along with the Four Guardians and the Eight Gentle Judges.
After the initiation of Neo Arcadia, the Mother Elf was used by a scientist named Dr. Weil, became known as the Dark Elf, and brought the world into the Elf Wars. These wars were so terrible that 90% of all Reploids and 60% of all humanity were killed. Together with Zero, X defeated Dr. Weil and got rid of the Dark Elf for good by sealing her away in his own body.
With his body as the imprisoning vessel of the Dark Elf, X existed in Cyber Elf form - his A.I. did not inhabit his robotic body.
Upon his heroic disappearance, a 9-year-old girl by the name of Dr. Ciel created a perfect copy of X to rule Neo Arcadia in his place without the general populace's knowledge. 100 years later, Copy X began to persecute Reploids, and the evil Dr. Weil returned with vengeance. Cyber Elf X aided Zero in defending Reploid-kind and bringing down Dr. Weil.
In the process, X's original body was destroyed, and his Cyber Elf form was thought to have expired.
However, his "cyber self" was unknowingly preserved and he now lives on (with a rebuilt body) to save the world from yet another crisis.
Zero:Name: Zero
Age: Approximately 400 years old.
Racial/thematic division: Robot/Reploid
Side: Good
Beginning social status: World Hero; Highest ranking robot in the world; Top commander of Elysium's military.
Appearance: (
click here) Humanoid with differing shades of red, and a base color of navy. Resembles a tall young adult male, and has very long blond hair.
Historic accomplishments: Inadvertently launched the world into the Maverick Wars; was crucial in saving the world countless times from master Reploid villain, Commander Sigma; put an end to the Maverick Wars; ended the Elf Wars; saved the world from a mislead Neo Arcadia; freed the world from Dr. Weil's evil world dictatorship; sacrificed himself to stop Weil.
Special characteristics: -A powerful and highly skilled fighter.
-Master saber wielder.
-Wields an assortment of handheld weapons, ranging from plasma guns to rods, boomerangs, and chains - all of which are compatible with elemental programing.
Short bio: Created in the year 201X (by Dr. Wily, although that fact still remains unknown to him), Zero was found 100 years later soon after Reploids first began to go into production. Originally the world's first "true" Maverick, Zero soon became the Maverick Hunters' top Hunter and upon Sigma's betrayal, took the position of Maverick Hunter leader. He was a crucial participant in saving the world from Maverick uprisings and Sigma's world domination attempts.
Before the end of the Maverick Wars, Zero went into stasis in an attempt to deal with his dark origins. It was in this time that his A.I programming was transferred from his original body into his new one.
During this period, robotic specialists studied his programing and used the essence of the Maverick Virus inside him to create an antidote for the Sigma-infused Maverick Virus. This creation took the form of a cyber elf, and was known as the Mother Elf.
After awakening Zero in an effort to bring an end to Sigma, X and Zero used the power of the Mother Elf to permanently and irreversibly destroy Sigma.
Years later, Zero and X brought an end to the Elf Wars, defeating a Reploid known as Omega and bringing the villainous Dr. Weil to his knees.
Zero again went into stasis, and was woken up again 100 years later when Neo Arcadia became tyrannical, and when Dr. Weil had returned to wreak vengeance on the world. X, who then existed as a Cyber Elf with his body sealing the Dark Elf, worked together with Zero to overcome both evils.
To permanently destroy Weil, Zero had to sacrifice himself on the battle-satellite-turned-asteroid, Ragnorok. His survival was deemed impossible. Fortunately, however, his programming miraculously survived the catastrophe, and he lives on to save the world from yet another crisis.

Daniel:
Name: Daniel Kaylar
Age: 16
Racial/thematic division: Human; Reploid-tech; Net Operator (temporary)
Position/side: Good
Beginning social status: Resident of Elysium; High School student.
Appearance: Light tan pants with a silver mechanical belt, and a green open button-up shirt over a white shirt with a purple collar. Also has a brown shag.
Abilities: Cutting edge electromagnetic perception and manipulation of the 25th century. Has minimal empathic abilities, and a grasp on the dimensional substance of electromagnetism, as understood in his scientific era. His technology enables him to create force fields, as well as a wide range of other effects.
Bio: Daniel's past seems like a simple one at first glance, but hidden layers of depth and dark complexity are revealed as time goes on. Born in the southern region of Elysium, Daniel lived in the rural outskirts of the city, where the extensions of society blend comfortably with the beauty of the tranquil wilderness.
Tutored from an early age, Daniel developed well intellectually, and became a genius with technology of all sorts. His home life was rocky, but his social group was a wholesome bunch for the most part.
Midway into his life, Daniel's uncle gave him a gift--tech-wear of uncertain origin harboring technology proportionately more advanced than even Elysium's elite. On the small scale, this technology allowed for perception and manipulation of existing EM frequencies, but on the larger scale it held a much more powerful potential not yet fully realized involving the "materialization" of EM energy.
Due to domestic reasons, Daniel along with his mom and younger sister, later moved to Electopia, the cybernetic capital of the world.
This is where the story starts off.
Plot extension: Daniel soon gets involved in the worldwide Net Battle tournament (he had created his own Net Navi, Logos.EXE), and is consequently brought into the troubles surrounding the event. These villainous troubles cause him to put aside his Net skills and deal with the troubles directly, using his tech-wear. As things progress, he finds himself dealing with Maverick uprisings elsewhere, not seemingly linked to it. In the process, secrets about his tech-wear (or armor) is revealed. Secrets which have a link to national security.
Once the Maverick threat is destroyed, and after participating in a national vehicle racing tournament, Daniel again finds himself flung into action as Mavericks arise and wage an all out war on Elysium and the world order. His sister, among many others, is held prisoner in a Maverick encampment, so he joins forces with Elysium to both liberate her and thwart the intentions of the enemy.
His ties to a mysterious, guardian-like, and globally unknown organization overseeing the path of destiny become more illuminated and plot-dominant as things progress.
As the story deepens, his aid is requested by Elysium for an invasion against a Maverick stronghold located in the deserts of Netfrica.
Through an unexpected turn of events behind enemy lines, Daniel discovers that this assaulted stronghold is not "Maverick" at all, but that unbeknown to Elysium they posed a danger to the Maverick agenda.
Slowly but surely, information gets to Daniel causing him to be wary of the authorities.
As things culminate, Mavericks launch a full-blown assault on Elysium's capital building in an attempt to overthrow the nation. Daniel and co. is called to defend the capital from the invasion.
Soon after the assault is repelled, and Elysium transforms into a villainous dictatorship, Daniel joins forces with the sparse rebellion formed by the elite and wary. He works together with them to weaken Elysium's global grasp, survive, free and gather recruits, and vanquish at its core the evil possessing the earth.
Trivia: -Daniel's ties to this "mysterious and secret" organization are sparse but integral. Their existence and nature are all entirely mysterious, although they are without question enemies of evil.
- Daniel started off as an incredibly unimportant character of mine. Humorously enough he became a leading figure.

Tristan:
Name: Tristan Grand
Age: 16
Racial/thematic division: Human; Reploid-tech.
Position/side: First distorted good, but then blatantly evil.
Beginning social status: Guest resident in Elysium (from the Outlands).
Appearance: (starting off as...) Jaggy jet black anime hair, a half-zipped sweatshirt of grey over a black shirt, and pants of black.
Abilities: Tristan's tech-wear enables him to manipulate GEM energy--a dark and repellent cosmic energy.
Bio: Tristan was born to unknown parents, and adopted as an infant. As a goodhearted child he grew up in the Outlands, under the responsibility of different people who were in it solely for the financial benefits granted to them by their employers. Neglected by both paternal figures and society where it mattered most--the heart--his life has been one of pain and darkness. Few showed him concern, and those who did left their marks.
It was in this time he experienced both a severing anguish of loss, and the eventual alluring taste of power. As a gift he was given secret technology created from the results of an excavation project in the Outlands. This technology complimented his own tech-wear, and boasted great--but primarily locked--powers.
Eventually, he came of age and left the Outlands for sentimental reasons not revealed. He traveled and came to Elysium, the capital of prosperity and peace. There he resided self-supported for a short while.
Plot extension: He crosses paths with Netto and co, Daniel included. But even with their association, darkness deep within him lurks among his shadowy corners. Propelled by a void and desire for self-empowerment and hard justice, he walks life unwittingly susceptible to contaminating promises of power.
When Maverick activity becomes an alarming reality in the stable world, Tristan is eventually manipulated into the evil side of the world in a quest for power.
Pursuing this power produces dissatisfaction and an enlarging of his soulful void, and an enlivening of his selfish will. It propels him, slowly sucking him into darkness, and burying his good nature deep beneath his corrupted, negative person.
While originally aligned with no clear enemies of Elysium, Tristan becomes one of the most formidable--as well as one of the youngest--villains in the story. His will becomes bent on absolute revenge against the selfish world, and an all consuming lust for power.
His desire for justice shapes into a yearning for universal retribution, to give the world a taste of its own medicine, for the handiwork of the world to be its own demise.
Trivia: -Tristan serves as Daniel's counterpart.
-Tristan was originally a main good guy before I turned him into a rouge and tweaked his powers a bit. He was replaced by Daniel. At one point in their creation they were nearly one-in-the-same.
[NOTE: Much more info will be added soon - I just really wanted this to be my 700th post. Woo!]
