Keiji Inafune says Mega Man is not in Brawl
December 22nd, 2007
During a question/answer session in the latest Bionic Commando podcast, Keiji Inafune lets us know that Mega Man isn’t in Brawl. His answer is pretty fun, and includes a little teasing throughout.
Well, I really do love Super Smash Brothers. It’s a great series…but, Nintendo hasn’t asked me yet if they can use Mega Man in their game. I’m still waiting…we have a little bit of time left, it’s not coming out for another few months. They might get around to asking us if we’d like to put Mega Man in Super Smash Brothers. Maybe if somebody from Nintendo is listening to this podcast, they’ll give me a call.
-I'm really disappointed by this because Megaman was one of the more interesting newcomers that could be in brawl.

Depending on WHEN the interview took place, who knows for sure if Nintendo had even asked as of that time. On top of that, if said interview was recent who's to say he isn't straight up lying? With a character as big as Megaman don't be surprised for him to be secret until he challenges you in the game. Also, i think dcmjlive or Rockyraccoon...or both, stated that Megaman was the #1 requested character out of Japan, and if Nintendo listened to us for Sonic as our #1 you're sure as hell better believe that Japan will look to thier people for thier outlook on who thier #1 request is. We all also know how much Japan love thier robot fighting hehe.
Nothing like a statement that seems so blatant such as "Megaman is not in Brawl" to make us put our guard down only to have our expectations explode when we see him appear in the game!

Don't let it hit ya that hard illnesz, hell i think it would be clever to say such a statement then 2 days later on Christmas day.....WARNING CHALLENGER APPROACHING....MEGAMAN!!! Holy hell that would be a huge and sudden announcement.

it says brawl is to come in months in this popcast, this means it was probably made before the delay was called, which means megaman still is a possibility and might had been the reason for the delay. Still a possiblitiy

If this is true...I guess it wouldn't matter. Hmm...yeah...Megaman is the most requested character in Japan...but uhm...is the source valid? OK...maybe it is. Maybe it's a tease. I don't know.

how do you know there is only one spot? The veteran side obviously is not filled, luigi is coming back, gannondorf, game and watch and many more are still to return. It doesn't say that there is only one spot left.

That is sad news. I was hoping to have another power stealer (Kirby and Megaman fighting over powers!)
Given the context, I suppose there still is a chance that he was a late addition, or the guy is lying, but to be honest, I wouldn't put my hopes on it if I were you.
