For statistical purposes, all vote counts are subtracted by one but divided by the raw highest score. For an example, we'll take Sarah's: Sarah has 9 votes. Sarah also has the most votes as of now. So the normal equation would be: 9/9x30 = 30 BUT to make a statistical fix, it will now be: 8/9x30 = 26.67 Remember, this is just to fix the problem with self-voting.
Despite the long thing I said, I actually don't care about people voting for themselves. That's just one vote extra for them. I'd actually just let people be private about their votes and let them be the judge if they're worthy enough to be voted by themselves. So yeah, let them be. It's like the presidential candidate voting for himself for presidency. |

Eli is simply digressing that he doesn't like the fact that people can vote for themselves. But I would stick through with this method for the following reasons: 1. The marginal difference actually decreases as more votes are cast but is only seen with decimal places that are at most cases insignificant. Honestly, it is already nature of people to vote for themselves some time or another. If Sarah and Chad voted for themselves then the real count of votes is 8 and 7. Computationally it is: 8/8x30 = 30 7/8x30 = 26.25 compared to 9/9x30 = 30 8/9x30 = 26.67 2. I respect the privacy of votes. If people knew that you voted for your friend's just because he/she is your friend, some fights may arise. I just don't want bias being seen. And, if people could see your votes, people can influence you to change it. Whereas if they just voted, they wouldn't know who voted for who. EDIT: I will reset votes on Friday. I'm waiting for late participants so that they'd be given a chance. Please vote for your favorites on Friday Night. Thanks! |
