You know that Zero Suit Samus has a Plasma Whip, right? But you may not know that she can use it for recovery.



Samus is falling! This looks bad!



She uses her up special move! She just manages to latch on!



Whew, that was a close one.



She can retract it to bring her to the ledge.

Moves like that can be pretty thrilling. And it’s not exclusive to Zero Suit Samus... Other characters can do it, too!

sakurai took a turn for the worse with tether recoveries imo. they used to be link and samus exclusive. now theyre handing them out to anyone =( ivysaur, lucas, link, samus, ZSS. and now theyre so much worse! you cant air dodge stall for extra distance anymore (the reason they were effective in the first place) and you cant hit half way down the wall then up b the rest of the distance anymore (for those characters whos up b isnt the tether recovery..) if a link or samus were falling they may aswel use their up b's and not bother with tether at all. ah well..

It's a natural expansion.  THere are so many people with whip like moves (Lucas is a bit wierd, but I don't know the game) so it just didn't make sense to deny it to new comers because it's a "link and samus exclusive". (if it ws one character it would be different, but the fact that two characters have it mean it should be open game for anybody else who deserves it) It's still a very small selection (Counting ZSS as part of Samus, only two new characters have gotten it so far)

As for air dodging, well, it has auto-adjust now, so there might be new uses for it.  As with everything, don't dismiss the changes until you've tried it out.  You might like it better.

how do you know you can't grab half way up a wall... it doesn't say so in this update. Did anyone get a look at it at e for all? It would be almost usesless if you couldn't grab the wall when your not close to the top. Other wise its the same or worse then using your up b.

I disagree... I use samus all the time and there are quite a few times where the tether comes in handy. Mostly when you are to far down to use up b. The trick is knowing when to use each...

Also now they made it so your tether reachs for the closest plat forms. So now you don't have the problem of facing the edge or not. I think the tether recovery could be almost better. Where exactly did you hear that you can't use it half way up the wall? Im not gunna believe it until i get some proof. Do you know for a fact that characters can't use their up B afterr a tether recovery? Show some proff.
