Let's see, we have a forever spawning herd of Poke'mon in their prime form, and let's point out we're using these in particular, assuming that hundreds and thousands respawn (not just one Pikachu, but many and more with the other team).
TEAM POKE'MON:

Pros:-As mentioned, there are many of the same variety and more trainers to come, with customizable moves
-Can evolve and get stronger
Cons:-Will not be able to continue through toil and effort, after taking enough hits (not death)
-For the trainer, only 1 poke'mon at a time, let-alone 6 per "utility belt" is limited.
VS.TEAM SPORE:Now, we have SPORE, creatures that can come in millions of ways, even imitate the poke'mon team. Doppler ganger's may be a worthy choice, but you know what they say, "The Original is always the best." They have limits in their attacks, but can have more creative methods in battling depending on the creator. Free-will in changing how the creature will battle.
(Examples) Heck, even ours!:

Pros:-Unlike Poke'mon, can easily be changed for the proper battle
-Can come in many forms
-Don't need to obey anyone (however, some poke'mon like Lucario do not need orders as well)
Cons:-Limited stats
-Limited complexity (cannot be ultra-powerful with the complexity bar)
Btw, The Poke'mon Trainer had more than one poke'mon obviously
