I heard 8, but I haven't seen where that's backed up in any manuals or profiles.
And yes, I of course am joking, it's just that Olimar's diminuitive size is made abundantly clear in his game, so it's much more prominent to the character. Of course Olimar could easily be rescaled, but it's a funny image, Olimar getting prepared for combat only to get stepped on by the relatively titanic mario.

most of the monsters are variants of bugs and frogs and such. It appears that it's in the future, as no men are left. But let's take a look.
1) Everything is giant, from bugs, to frogs, to trees, even flowers
2) Olimar cannot take his helmet off because the air is filled with toxic oxygen
3) The landscape is litered (literally) with human garbage.
4) Many of the artifacts from the second game sport actual human logos on them, such as Duracell or 7up
5) The Sphere of Wisdom or whatever he calls the globe you pick up is clearly a globe of Earth.
