SSB-only character?

So, I found myself wondering: will there be a unique playable character for SSBB?  At first, I imagined a character designed specifically for Brawl (possibly a Subspace Army soldier or some sort).  But Nintendo could also put in a playable character from a franchise they haven't released yet, to jump-start it.  Or maybe something completely different?

Personally, I expect that the Subspace Army will have a playable representative, probably being like Mr. Game and Watch in Melee and Ness in 64, the last unlockable, earned after finishing Subspace Emissary at a certain difficulty.

I think it'd be cool, but I highly doubt it.

As for the SE having a playable character, even if there is a new character, I don't think it will be SE, as they're somewhat set up as the faceless bad guy.  Unless maybe it's a rogue SE.

You do know that Roys appearance in melee was his first. his fire elbem game was released a few months after.

That I feel is possible, but I think that's violating the spirit of the question since the character still technically belogns to another game.  Roy may have shown up in Smash first, but that doesn't change the fact that he's clearly identified as a Fire Emlbem character

You are correct about that.  For that question, I mean like if they had announced the Pikmin series by putting Olimar in Brawl or something.

The real challenge is coming up with a character that fits for an original concept.

For example, somebody mentioned a sword drawing sword master, but the problem with that is the character could just as easily be a Fire Emblem character, so why not have it be Erika from Fire Emblem Sacred Stones?

It would need to be a character who's personality is so vibrant that his moves are defined by himself without any need of a surrounding game, without being generic enough that he falls into the "why not have him be X from Y" trap.  All this while avoiding a WTF factor, which considering the Japanese, is very unlikely.

Its impossable. they would have done that in melee. they were released on the same day.

It's a hypothetical thing.  You can replaces Olimar/Pikmin with anything you like.

They are unique for SSBB and they probably have at least one cool fighter.
