So as some of you may know, I am not at all the greatest person at Brawl. In fact, I'm probably one of the worst here. I practice and practice, but it seems like I'm not getting any better. It seems like practice isn't enough for me, because if it worked, I'd feel like I'd be a lot better then what I am. So my question to all of you is, how do you get better with your characters and how can your techniques help me become better with mine?

vs mode..... play against two level 6 CPU opponents and after every 30 matches or one day or so increase the CPU level by one...use a low level CPU ally if you must, 2 levels lower than the opponents though... by the time you get to level 9 CPU opponents, gradually decrease the ally's level, or remove him completely and add another enemy to the mix....

i believe in starting from a good level and not just going against intense CPUs like some people do... its eaiser to get used to the speed and see improvement this way... also, play A LOT of online matches after that because humans play a lot different than CPUs

Get help from a more experienced player. Im not perfect myself but I can use GANONDORF well. So I may not be the person to help you in your everyday sparring, but if you're ever intereseted in strengthing your GANONDORF skill, dont be afraid to ask me for some pointers.   Wink

100 man brawl is good to develop your timing . boss battles is good to develop reflex and prediction abilities . there's really nothing better than fighting with someone who is better than you and who is able to consistently take advantage of your weaknesses .

Try to dodge and grab more. That's what I did to become better. Dodging is the key to success. Also focus just on one person and use them a lot to get better with them. Try not to change characters until you have gotten fairly good with that character. Then you can change it up and try to get good with multiple people.

Agreed.  That was something I did when I fought against my friend in Melee, who constantly used that cheapest characters.  Eventually, I finally saw through his combos and his persistence attacks, and I got better.

Well, first things first, find the type of character you're most interested in or are best with.(light, mid-heavy,strong,fast,etc.) Then, try fighting some CPUs from lvls 6-9 in either team battles or free for alls. Once you think you know your character's moves, you can look at lvl 9 CPUs vs lvl 9 CPUs that use your character to find out some combos. Once you study your combos, fight people online, friends, and people who are experienced. All it really takes is concentration and your learning curve. Of course, it doesn't really matter if you're the best or the worst. It's still a game, right?

if you want to get really good, wouldnt you try to win in cruel brawl? i try the one that doesnt end and try to get ans many kills as possible. it helps you to learn what to do when you have like 300+ health.
