Picture five or more players huddled around a Wii. The number of people who can play is limited by the number of controllers that can connect. When that happens, you usually have the people who win or lose rotate out so that everyone gets a turn, right? So be nice and give everybody a chance to play! ... ...That’s how I feel anyway, but just in case you need a little help being nice (and since everyone has their own controller preferences), I went ahead and rigged up a Rotation mode. This is the top menu for Group mode!

First decide the number of controllers.

Then get a count of people in the room with you and enter that in.

How many people per brawl? You can set the rules to rotate out a set number of winners or losers from the brawl. Rotation doesn’t have to be about coming in first place. If your group is on pretty equal footing with each other, go for Loser Swaps Out. If you’ve got some green players in your midst, why not start out with Winner Swaps Out? It’s always useful to log your name. But, hey, if it’s too much of a bother for you, you can play fine without it. Just as long as you remember your guest number, that is. If a new player happens to come by during a Rotation match, you can add him or her to the group if you’re willing to head back to the name-entry screen. When your name comes up, press a button to confirm.Press a button on the controller of your choice when your name pops up. That sets the controller you’ll use. And of course, your control settings will be applied when you play. Need a bathroom break? Opt to sit out a match!Even with numerous controllers and dozens of people lined up to play, you’ll be good to go if you use this mode! ... ... Well, not quite. Rotation is limited to 16 players. Mm hmm.

Things to notice:
1. It's not called Multiplayer...rather Group mode. 2. The icons are so cute!!! The Ice Climber one is particularly the cutest. 3. They separated this function from the Tourney mode. 4. Woah, the options are now called rules!
Other than that...BORING!!!

No it's still vs. mode you kind of have to read it. This special setting is designed to cater to groups of people playing at a single Wii that numbers more than 4. This is an effective method to have an even swap or a swap based on certain rules automatically take effect for setting up the next match automatically. True you can configure all this before a match anyway but this setting makes the transition much smoother and efficient imo. Some of you may be underwhelmed by all this but for some reason i think this is an awsome addition to the game. Bravo Sakurai.

Yeah i believe it will be, unless i read it wrong somewhere. There will still be the default Brawl vs option, i just think this is going to be an add-on of sorts to help make games that have 16 people on one Wii much more fluid as far as transitioning goes for the players instead of having to reset all sorts of options and control schemes for every match.

It's a fairly uninteresting update, but it's nice to have in the game. I'm not disappointed

You guys are confused...it is now called Group Mode, not VS Mode. Proof is that both Brawl and Special Brawl are also under this mode. Get it? The mode of this update is called Rotation.

Even when we have 6 people in the room and all want to play melee, we never used rotation so it's not something I'd like to use.

Even if we had a party, it never got to the point that rotation was needed. Then again, if player blood is rushing, it's good to have some outside force deciding who should play. HAHA.

i think its a quite interssting update.. altho the mode doesnt seem all that useful now that i actually think how ofter therel be a difficult number or decent brawlers in the same room at one time. maybe if it were online too?
also i dont like the look of that screen. sakurai's translator guy who was talking up brawl for the demo-demonstration said thered be a 'bazillion modes' to play.. and i count 4 in the multiplayer section so unless they bust out the rest of that bazillion in 1P mode im calling him a liar! (and im expecting 1P 3d adventure mode, DDR, pinball, chess and solitaire) Xd
