If we don't want a certain member posting in our threads for some reason we should be able to lock it just from 1 person. Like if I was spamming in someones thread they should have the ability to only lock it from me. All the other members could be able to post in it still.

I can see advantages, and disadvantages...and from what I heard...if I'm correct on who your "1 person" is, then I heard that he/she is taking a week long break...

I've never seen a forum with that ability and I think it would be abused quickly .

If you don't want to see something from a certain person, then don't mind it. Why should you be affected? You don't even know what the person's thinking.

i'm thinking of integrating an ignore system which will allow a user to not see the posts of another user , but you can't force someone else to ignore you .

Might make threads a little hard to follow, is the only downside I can see.

What you could do is instead of having the full comment shown, just have it display something like below:

You have chosen to ignore posts from [username].  Click here to display post.

That way it only uses up one short line, but gives confirmation the post was made and allows you to see it if the conversation wouldn't make sense without it.

I don't know how easy/practical/possible this is, but it's an idea.

I think that ignore function with a choice to read it is great. But, honestly, people got to start reading in context and not fish for words. Example: If you expect that all the person would do is compliment, you'll always look for a compliment and take what the person said as one.

I think people do do that already...or at least I do...
