Everyones like YAY Sonic's in Brawl! but I think that Sonic is gonna suck. He's quick ...ooo...good for him but speed alone wont knock the opponent out of the arena. As for Snake, i think he'll be pretty cool. I am glad that both characters made it into Brawl though because they are both popular deserving characters.

Well said Hulksmash, Sonic whether you like him or not is a major gaming icon and with Segas recently growing bonds with Nintendo it makes great sense for Sonic to join in. Oh there's also the small reason that Sonic was the #1 requested character for the Smash series, the fans had spoken and Nintendo had listened. Everyones like YAY Sonic's in Brawl! but I think that Sonic is gonna suck. He's quick ...ooo...good for him but speed alone wont knock the opponent out of the arena.
I agree that speed alone wont do it but you haven't really given him a chance outside of his own hype. Who's to say he is going to truley suck, when people start learning how to control his speed and start linking sick combos, who's to say he wont wreck everyone on the field? It comes down to B-Day (Brawl Day) when we can start finding for ouselves who deserves thier spot on the roster and who becomes the next Pichu hehe. |

For me, Sonic died when his first 3D game came out, but for Brawl, i'll make an acception.

not true if u played his real first 3d game on the sega dream cast it was actually pretty damn good especially for its time and for some reason the remakes of that game just werent as fun

The truth of it is, we would only truly know if Sonic is great or not is in how people would be able to control him. People could say that before, Fox was just a stupid speedy character who had his strong moves deflated in Melee. But after a while, he became a great upper tier character that deals serious kickass. Looks can be deceiving so let's not make these sort of judgments now.

I don't follow. Sonic is a staple in the video game world, hailing all the way back from the 16 bit world. Not as old as Mario, and not quite as successful, but definitely one of the most recognized characters out there. He's had 5 different cartoons, beating out Mario's 3. Mario and Sonic have been labeled as rivals since their origin (Sonic was literally created to counter the "Nintendo has Mario" argument). Since Sega left the console race, they have supported Nintendo strongly, and Sonic's return to good gaming has been entirely on the Gamecube and Wii. Mario vs Sonic is probably the most popular video game debate online.
I think Sonic deserves a spot here more than any other 3rd party.
I cant agree with you anymore. Sonic is the most deserving third party character PERIOD. AND then throw in the King of Tactical Espionage Action, that ALONE makes me salivate over this game. Best two newcomers that could ever happen to brawl nuff' said! |

I'm a nintendo purist...haha...but Sonic is just a great icon that makes him so loveable. I'd like to have a merger between Nintendo and Sega then Sonic would rightfully be Nintendo's! HAHA.

if that would happen we might actually see some good sonic games, instead of the crap usually under his franchise these days. nintendo would revamp that franchise so well... man just thinking about it gives me goosebumps. then we could have another really key and good franchise in nintendo's lineup.
