We are having alot of tournys latley. And I've noticed that no one shows up for most of them, and they become wasted threads. There should be a limit on how many tournys should be made a month. And once a month, we should have a big tourny on a Saturday on a time alot of people can show up to. Then who ever comes in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, should get a little SP trophey. The trophey should go into the awards part of the tourny ranking. Example: http://www.smashpower.com/forums/index.php/topic=3596.0&position=2Notice in the link in the right side, there is a section for rewards. Then there is a little man called Old school, which I don't know what its for, but for some reason everyone has it. Then who ever comes in 1st in the special month tourny gets a 1st place trophey and it will go there. And also, I think there should be a 5-7 limit on how much tournys happen a month.

I've been saying this for a while, most tourneys on this site are broken. I've also said we should have a monthly best of Smash Power tourney. But restricting the amount of tourneys would probably be a good idea too, the problem would be everyone would rush to make a tourney in the beggining of each month. Anyway, glad someone finally made a thread about this, good job.

Although credit for this idea goes to Matt, it was still a good thing that you brought this up in a thread Sarah. I totally agree. There's way to many small tourneys that seem to go to waist. but fewer tourneys would make them seem more desirable. Also, it would add much more glory to someone's tourney win, rather than the after effect now. TOURNEY CAPS ARE A MUST! for a cap, id say 3-5.

I have a suggestion...how about everyone is able to make one or two tourney's?

are you guys suggesting that i disable the ability for members to create tournaments , or are just laying out guidelines for everyone to voluntarily follow ?

I don't think you should remove the ability to create tournaments altogether, but you could make an upper limit of perhaps one or two tournaments per member per month, to bring down the number of tourneys at least a bit.

2 tournaments per month for 30+ active users is still 60 tournaments per month . in order to control the number of tournaments at all , we would have to select specific people who are allowed to create tournaments , and disable that ability for everyone else .

Then perhaps you could have one tournament per member per month, but an upper limit of two or three per week. That gives every member the chance to create tournaments, while not having too many of them at the same time.

luigi makes like 10 tournaments per month and people show up for them .

I say we let it run the way it is. Games that people aren't interested in will die, or be bailed on, and ones that are more popular will play out. We can't really prevent people from dropping out at the last moment, but as time goes on we'll end up naturally adapting to the process.
