Meh - Lame update.
I don't rate any of these stages highly - why they NEED to return is beyond me.

I wouldn't mind so much, but a few of them haven't been updated tremendously well, like the Big Blue stage. Those racers look like they're made of cardboard, and the Melée Starfox stage is similarly last-gen too.

Graphics for this kind of stage don't bother me actually - they're representative of the game the level is based on - for example: When "RETURNING POKEMON" where announced people also criticised the "level of graphics/rendering" used - for example: But isn't this representative of (in this case "Lugia's") graphics in the N64 "Pokemon Stadium" games - just as "Excitebike" is representative of NES graphics and "Andross" of SNES graphics.

I've never particularly liked these stages. Big Blue is an exception though, it being among my favorite in Melee (Hyrule comes first). I just love the amount of non-chaotic cool-race-car action there is in it. A fun stage, if nothing else. Green Greens...a terrible "replacements" for Dream Land 64. I loved that stage. It was so simple, yet so...oh...endearing (not quite sure if that's the word I'm looking for). It was my favorite in SBB1. Making it in Stage creator just isn't the same. Ah well. I am thankful for what we have gotten though. They really put a lot of work into this incredible game.

I totally agree with you, that's why people eff me when they complain about the graphics. I fine it neatly woven all together. Except maybe for not making Toon Link cel-shaded. But uh, other than that, I love the graphics.

Add the above four types to the additional four available in the Pokémon Stadium 2 stage and you’ve got a total of 8 different elemental terrain types to fight in. And so we can't have all 8 in one level because...

That's because you can't have it all. And having it split gives you a choice. If you want to experience both, then have 2 battles.
