i've heard that the starfox tanks are slightly different: falcos can hover higher but is less powerful, wolfs is more powerful but cannot hover well and fox is in the middle. could be a rumor but .....

A new piece of news i heard though is not with FS's but standard combat with Lucario. Apparently if you have higher damage your output of damage becomes gradually higher. This gradual power increase tops out at 200% but is kind of a cool mechanic.

In regards to Pikachu: yes that's true. He even shouts pikachu or chu.
In regards to tanks: IDK
In regards to Lucario: Woah! There are more new mechanics? I won't be surprised if the rest have those too. Stamina for Pkmn Trainer and Endurance for Lucario.

I hope...I'm recently a Kirby/Fox player on the 64, so I'll look into those...
speaking of Kirby, it'd be interesting if they were able to find a clone for him...

Yeah the gradual power that Lucario recieves isn't mega overpowering or anything but there is supposed to be an increase. The players noticed that at one point of damage Lucario would attack and average around 26% damage output. When he was at a higher percentage of damage on him he did around 29-32% with the same attack.

Like i said they are still testing it out to make sure thier assumption is correct but it seems pretty cool to me.

I have just confirmed that Wolf does have a stronger and wider laser with the Landmaster. Falco does have more maneuverable hover. So yeah, even if they have the same FS, there are striking differences.
