HOW TO: Using the secrets and unlocks forum

If you've discovered how to unlock something in the game (after it has been released , of course) , come here to share that information with others . Make a new thread for each unlock and be sure to choose a thread title that describes what exactly is being unlocked .

Give as much relevant information as you can so that others will be able to easily follow the unlock . If you unlock something by accident and you're not sure exactly what you did , that's ok . you can still make a thread about it , and we can work together to figure out exactly what triggered the unlock .

To make a new thread , just click the "NEW TOPIC" button in the menubar on the right .

lets get a spoilerless unlock guide happening, i dont know if abt the rest of you but i really dont want to know who it is before the challenger approaching screen! ill probly be unlocking as much as i can by guesswork then ill need spoilerless tips. or a 'hints' thread?

I agree with the Spoiler-less unlock guide. Just a nice list saying what you have to do to unlock people would be nice without telling players who they are going to get. There is always that great moment when you Get New Challenger Aprroaching for the first time and you unlock Jigglypuff again.

e.g. "To get New Character [x,y] (where x and y are the coordinates of character's slot), defeat third boss in 3 minutes or less."

I'll chime in as well and give a resounding YES to a spoiler-free guide. Instead of giving character names or stage names, I think we should arrange them by easiest to unlock and hardest to unlock and substitute character names with either letters or numbers. For example:

A: In order to unlock character A, simply beat classic mode and A will appear to battle you.

Whereas A could be substituted for 1.

B: In order to unlock character B, beat the final boss of the Subspace Emissary and B will appear to battle you.

I'm sure you get the idea, but this is just an idea of mine, you don't have to use it if you don't want to. Here's looking to a spoiler-free guide!

There should be two sections then: Spoiler-free and Character-reveal

Character Reveal would be also a place of discussion on how happy you are that this secret character came out...but it'll basically be the spoiler counterpart of spoiler-free

Spoiler-Free would also have the tips on how to get the next character easily.

Don't you guys think this would work?

obviously, there should be no extended silence on new characters.  I say follow these rules.

(note: I'm not in any official position to this, I just think this is a fair way to keep things civil without chasing people off)
1) We set up a spoiler free guide
2) We don't mention "hidden characters" in the topics of posts.  Instead, we refer to them by their chart position
3) We mark any post talking about a hidden character with a spoiler tag
4) About 1-2 months into the process, it is assumed common knowledge and the entire practice of protecting identities is scrapped
