In today's Iwata Asks, there was a video showing the application of stickers. One of the stickers had the description "Swimming Time: +20". Also in the Challenge mode part of todays update, the example said "Exceed 300 ft. combined swim distance for all characters". Does this mean that if you fall in the water in the Ice Climbers stage, you will be allowed to swim back? Could there be other uses for this?

The stickers are only of use on the Subspace Emissary, so it must mean that swimming features there, on some of the missions.

That's not to say you can't swim in Ice Climbers or other as yet unfeatured stages though, because obviously the mechanic is there to some extent.

I doubt there'll be underwater levels, but hey.

Underwater levels won't work, Charizard would die Cry
(In the show it said that if the fire on the tail went out the pokemon would die.)

I'm pretty sure Bowser stomping on Charizard's head would kill him too, you don't seem too upset with that!  Grin

Geez - save me from the wrath of teenage girls! It was bad enough the first time round.

The point is everyone would have to have some sort of breathing underwater apparatus if there were  such a stage, right? I'm sure Charizard's tail can have a scuba mask of it's own.  Tongue

On the other hand, Squirtle can come in for him and save the day! All abotu balance.

Swimming could work in Isle Delfino too. Most of the places where the stage lands is surrounded by water.

Mario used to be able to spend an infinite amount of time underwater without suffering any breathing-related difficulties in SMBros. 1.

Yet in Galaxy he can only spend about a minute underwater.

Just to point out inconsistencies in previous game chronicles that might allow Charizard to swim underwater.

He should probably suffer some sort of disadvantage though in that terrain.

It might be the same kind of water that doesn't put out Mario's fireballs.
